Reborn as Superman's Son, Ch 44

Chapter 44: God Walking Among Men in the Marvel Universe!

Cafeteria.

"Eden, are you sure this is okay?"

The kind-hearted little spider sat beside Eden like a timid quail, muttering quietly.

"It's fine."

Eden spoke with his mouth full while wolfing down his food.

Perhaps because word had already spread throughout the school about Eden bullying Thompson at noon, the table—which could seat six people—only had Eden and Parker sitting at it.

Right. These students would rather stand in line than sit next to Eden and Parker.

For Eden, this was naturally a good thing. He couldn't wait for these idiots to leave him alone.

Incidentally, Thompson's nicknames had also spread with Eden's help: "Dumbass Thompson," "Idiot Thompson," and "Moron Thompson."

*[Congratulations, Host, for bullying future hero Venom/Agent Venom and turning Thompson into a complete wimp. This is super villain behavior. All attributes increased by 10%!]*

The System said nothing, simply continuing to boost Eden's power.

Perhaps because the System had finally returned to its mother universe, it was doing everything possible to leech benefits from its creator OBA for Eden, its master.

Of course, to OBA, this power was nothing—a drop in the bucket.

"Eden, why did you help me?"

This seemed to be the first time Peter Parker had been the center of attention at school as "Peter Parker," and he felt this sensation wasn't entirely bad. He just didn't understand why Eden would help him.

"About that..."

Eden put down his food and looked at Parker seriously. "I owe you one, Peter."

"Huh?!"

Peter Parker was confused by Eden's words.

"I'm serious."

"Suppose I did something not very friendly to you, and you took the fall for me. Would you forgive me, Peter?"

Eden looked at Peter Parker with a sincere and serious attitude.

"Of course!"

"We're friends."

Peter Parker paused, then nodded repeatedly.

"Hahaha!"

"Truly the 'kind' little... Peter Parker!"

Eden laughed and patted Parker's shoulder lightly. He'd almost slipped up and called him the kind little spider.

"Little... Peter Parker?"

"Well, compared to you, I really am small."

"No, wait."

"Every student in school is small compared to you."

"By the way, Eden."

"How did you lift Thompson with one hand earlier?"

"Oh, sorry, that's your secret!"

"Everyone has secrets."

"You're really strong, Eden."

Peter Parker now genuinely considered Eden a good friend. He began displaying his chatty talent, words firing out like a machine gun—ratatatat—toward Eden.

"..."

Eden remained silent, just smiling without speaking, silently listening.

Time flew by.

After school.

"See you tomorrow, Eden."

"I'm really happy we became friends!"

Peter said goodbye to Eden at the school gate. All the grievances he'd felt that morning from being branded a "murderer" by Jameson vanished completely.

Peter looked up at the blue sky and smiled. "Uncle Ben, there really are more good people in this world."

"Damn it."

"Peter, you're too kind."

A kilometer away, Eden heard Peter's words. His conscience hurt so much he wanted to turn himself in at the police station.

Jesus.

I was the one who ripped off Rhino's skin. Stop blaming the little spider—he didn't do anything wrong.

Of course, Eden only thought this internally.

*[Framing Spider-Man... All attributes increased by 10%!]*

The System continued working hard.

"..."

Eden shrugged and returned to his apartment.

When Eden arrived at his apartment, he immediately stopped and turned to look at someone hiding in the shadows. Expressionlessly, he said, "Come out, Nick Fury! Stop hiding in the shadows cosplaying Batman."

"It's Nick Fury."

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s ace agent Nick Fury silently emerged from the shadows. He looked at Eden and said, "Kid, you killed someone and let Spider-Man take the fall for you."

"Don't say it like that."

"It was the NYPD who convicted Spider-Man, not me!"

Eden shook his head. He wasn't surprised by Nick Fury's arrival at all.

Nick Fury was, after all, an ace agent.

In fact, if even Nick Fury didn't know Spider-Man was framed, that would be absurd.

"Kid, you shouldn't abuse your power!"

"You should channel your strength toward righteousness!"

"And you need to know—there's always someone stronger out there!"

"I've seen heroes far more powerful than you."

Nick Fury looked at Eden seriously.

"Cut the crap, Nick."

"What do you want from me?"

Eden was getting impatient.

"..."

Nick Fury saw that Eden was deliberately provoking him. He remained silent for a long while before continuing, "Interested in doing business with me? You can't keep zero-dollar shopping forever."

"Hiss."

Eden frowned. Nick's words hit home. He genuinely hated criminals, so he couldn't become one himself.

"Alright."

"What kind of business?"

Eden looked at Nick Fury and asked.

"Help me rescue Tony Stark from Afghanistan."

Nick Fury said directly.

"Why ask me to rescue Tony Stark?"

Eden looked at Nick Fury questioningly.

"Because I have no one else available, kid."

Nick Fury looked up at the sky. Hawkeye had been dispatched to Mexico to watch the hammer that fell from the sky. Black Widow was sent to track Dr. Banner. Other agents were busy extracting Captain America from the glacier.

Most importantly, there was a traitor in S.H.I.E.L.D.

If Nick Fury intervened in Afghanistan, he'd be blocked by various forces.

So Nick Fury decided to take a gamble—going all in on a mysterious teenager who could kill Rhino with one punch.

Just thinking about Rhino's condition made Nick break out in a cold sweat.

Good god, that was Rhino—a monster with hundreds of tons of strength!

A monster even his ace agents struggled to handle.

"Ten million dollars, Nick Fury."

"Nine million goes into my bank account. The remaining one million, under sponsorship or any reasonable pretext—you figure it out—goes to Peter Parker's aunt."

"Oh, and I don't have a bank card yet. You'll need to get me one."

Eden looked at Nick Fury and stated his terms.

"..."

Nick Fury fell silent. He was somewhat curious how Eden knew that the only funds he could currently mobilize without alerting various forces was exactly ten million.

"You care a lot about Peter Parker?!"

Nick Fury looked up at Eden and asked.

"Because he's kind, Nick. Peter has a good heart."

After Eden finished speaking, he turned and entered his room, leaving Nick with his back.

"..."

Nick stared at the closed door in silence. He'd originally planned to wait for Eden inside the apartment, but despite trying every method, he couldn't get the door open.

"When are you planning to rescue Tony Stark?"

Nick asked through the bedroom door to Eden inside.

"Tomorrow morning."

Eden answered.

"Kid, Tony Stark is very important..."

Nick continued rambling.

"Say one more word and I won't do it. He can get back on his own anyway."

"And stop calling me 'kid.' I have my own name, Nick."

Before Nick could finish, Eden's voice reached his ears.

"..."

Nick fell silent. After standing stunned for about five seconds, he nodded and said softly, "Alright, Mr. Kent."

The next morning.

"Phew."

Eden got up, opened his bedroom door, and stared at the azure sky outside.

This was his third day in the Marvel universe, and he still hadn't returned home.

Next, Eden went to a nearby hotel for a simple wash, then returned to his room, drank a glass of water, and quietly waited for someone to arrive.

"Knock knock knock!"

When his bedroom door was finally knocked on, Eden stood up and opened it.

"Are you Mr. Kent?"

After opening the door, the person before Eden was none other than Phil Coulson.

"Old fox."

Eden couldn't help but curse Nick Fury.

After Eden said he valued the little spider's kindness, Nick sent the kind-hearted Coulson to speak with him.

"This is the bank card Director Fury asked me to give you."

"It contains ten million dollars."

"As for Peter Parker's one million, we'll provide it as secret sponsorship from S.H.I.E.L.D. That kid is worth our investment."

Coulson handed the bank card to Eden.

"Thank you."

Eden was momentarily stunned as he accepted the card from Coulson.

"Also."

"We've paid all the fines for the hotel, food, and computer you zero-dollar shopped."

"You don't need to worry about it."

After Eden pocketed the card, Coulson added.

"Thank you."

Eden was stunned again and continued thanking Coulson.

"You're welcome."

"By the way, when do you plan to rescue Mr. Stark?"

"Honestly, he's been missing for months now. All the various forces are barely holding on."

After delivering the gifts, Coulson smoothly brought up Eden's job.

"Now."

Eden answered.

"Alright."

"We've provided a private jet for you..."

After getting Eden's answer, Coulson relaxed slightly, then looked up at the sky where a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane waited.

"A plane?"

"What do I need that for?"

Eden shook his head.

"Uh."

"Then how will you get there?"

Coulson froze.

"I'll fly."

As Eden spoke, he'd already changed into his black combat suit and lifted into the air.

"Ah..."

Coulson stared in shock at Eden before him. His words caught in his throat.

"Whoosh!"

Then, under Coulson's stunned gaze, Eden flew into the sky.

"BOOM!"

With a sonic boom, Eden vanished instantly into the blue sky, moving so fast that even S.H.I.E.L.D.'s satellites couldn't track him.

"Director Fury, you still underestimated this kid."

"His power is unimaginable!"

Coulson looked at the now-empty sky and murmured.

One second later.

Afghanistan.

Hydra base.

In this desert, under the scorching sun.

A pitch-black figure, like a god walking among mortals, looked down upon everything in the desert from above, illuminated by the sun's rays.
