Switching to Subscription Billing

A bit of housekeeping.

Patreon introduced a new billing model that I've been considering switching to for a while now.

For existing Patrons, nothing will change!

You'll still get all the great art and comics you've come to expect from me every month and still be billed on the 1st each month. Business as usual.

For new Patrons, you'll be billed based on the day you sign up.

So, if you sign up on the 23rd of the month, you'll be billed on the 23rd each month. Unlike the current system where you'd be billed on the 23rd when you sign up, and then the 1st of every subsequent month.

I genuinely think this will improve Patrons' experience here by making that sign up less confusing and the billing part more straightforward. But in the interest of transparency, I thought it worth putting out there for comment. I'm currently planning to make the switch on the 1st, two weeks from now.

Thank you all for being here and being a part of some of the best dang comics online!

Agreed, I support over 100 creators so the number of small charges would be absurd. Thankfully I'm grandfathered in. Well, mostly, I've already got six stray ones that are rather annoying. (edit: correction, now down to 40, I forgot I did a culling last year, still would be silly if it were all spread out)

Hence why I bring it up before implementing the change. Maybe what I think people would prefer isn’t the case. Feedback is important!

Personally, I much prefer the older system. I like how all the campaigns were collected together into a single monthly charge. With the new one, the charges and their associated messages are now spread across the month. I might be in the minority though.

Thanks for the update!
