like everyone else, talking abt Patreon update

well... I'm, sure most of you have heard by now about the new Patreon update with the new fees.

It's bullshit, imo. I didn't even care about the fees on my end because the process was streamlined, specially for patrons.

I don't have many patrons right now, but I love every one of you, and I understand if you need to cut me out because of extra fees.

I guess I'm just gonna keep this open until something else comes by that people are flooding to. Because I don't want people that support me to be robbed.

As always, thanks for your support (and apologies for slow content lately, multiple things are leading to slow process, holidays and all that, you know. Thanks for your patience.)

Yeah... Will just have to hope for the best I guess :<

Some people have tried adjusting their tiers to lower to make up for that fact so that people can still pay a $5 tier without the fees making it go over, but then the artist still gets less, and you can't go lower than $1. I've seen screenshots from artists of literal floods of people removing pledges in their notifications, not just $1 tiers too. It's very damaging particularly to people who rely on the constant lower tiers as a more reliable source of income. It's just super not cool, how they dropped it on people without doing actual interest polls or something, or at least making it opt-out. I'm lucky being on the lower end of supporters tbh but it still sucks for like, future plans I had. I haven't been super happy with Patreon lately anyways, because I've been getting a stupid amount of bot accounts pledging to me, inflating the number but dropping like 20 bucks a month off the final total if I didn't already go through and clear them out via sending them messages. :T

individually they may not have, but the worst from what i've heard is the people on the lower tiers - say one person initially budgets $10 a month to 10 artists at $1 each. After the new fees, they have to drop down to only 6 or 7 artists because the individual fees on the transactions add up to a huge extra fee they can't afford. That's where it's hitting the hardest: lower tiers.

I'm still divided on it myself; the extra charges didn't seem to be that bad, on paper at least. Will have to see how it works out *in practice* and if they decide to revert it or not. :/
