A Prince's Tale v0.3.5 - New Art Update

Hi everyone,

Today I'm happy to announce an exciting new update. The game now contains custom portraits for a bunch of characters in the game. With the new portrait and paper doll system for the prince from the last update, we needed to get the other characters to match that style as well. Here's a preview of the new portraits:

This new art does mean that we will be phasing out the different AI generated portrait styles, likely in the next update. I realize this must not be what everyone was looking for (after all, four different styles would probably cater to more than one single consistent art-style), but I've been excited by the idea of having a more unique and playful art-style in the game for a while now. The next step is of course to also make custom artworks for the various different intimate scenes in the game. I'm very keen to share that soon enough.

Besides the portraits, the update also contains a heap of content like a continuation of the Princess route, a new spicy scene with Orson, and a new confession scene with Devota.

The update also contains a few important mechanical changes. Decisions that lead you to content you have not visited yet will now have a golden star next to them. This should help indicate where you can find different parts of the story. Please let me know how this change works for you as I'm still figuring out how to make it work best.

• Custom new portrait art for a large amount of characters!

  • We will be phasing out the different AI generated portraits and the game now has a cute and completely unique style of portraits that matches the earlier Prince portrait & paper doll rework.

  • In this update, a large batch of characters have already been given the new portraits, namely: Andreas, Caspar, Devota, Eve, Hyssop, Kathryn, Leopold, Morgana, Orson, Rosa, Sybille, and Wymerus.

• New 'starred' system has been introduced to the game. Whenever you see a decision with a golden star, it signifies this is usually content you haven't visited yet. I'm still working out how well it works, let me know if you have any feedback.

• A continuation of the Princess storyline where you now go to a new secret council meeting and discuss your progress. If you do well in your lessons, you will be awarded a fun first rewards. More to follow soon!

• A new spicy scene with Orson that can be accessed before taking a bath in the morning after going the submissive route with him in his dates.

• A new Devota confession scene describing everything you saw after you spy on Caspar and Wymerus in the courtyard.

• Added new artworks for Morgana's different potions.

• Small parts of the beginning of the game have been rewritten to better reflect how the story has developed

  • The guard giving you a compliment before the first council meeting has been replaced with Rosa giving the compliment instead. This gives a nice little introduction of her character.

  • Mentions of the predecessor of Morgana have been removed as this didn't really add much to the story.

  • Andreas now explicitly hands over the 'no marriageable princess' problem to Morgana at the first council meeting.

  • Devota gets a small introduction at the meeting.

  • Kathryn's intro has been changed to be less edgy and a bit shorter as well.

  • The choice for which ointment ingredient has been changed to be less on-the-nose about which one is feminine and masculine.

  • Interactions where you help Rosa in the kitchen have been rewritten to better fit her character now.

• Changed the width of the central game view depending on your screen resolution. This change might mess with the interactive map slightly, be sure to refresh the page whenever you change your window size! (Working on a fix for this)
