2023-11-15 08:08:45 +0000 UTCAgain: marketing tactic. The way you feel about Felix and Minho after having seen this is *exactly* what the producers wanted. I'm not at all saying that what JYP did was right or that the boys (especially Chan, RIP) should be content with what he put them through, because it was fucking awful. And you're right that the damage is something they're still healing from to this day. But also, from a marketing perspective, this worked *brilliantly.* The Korean public is often super critical of foreigners and trainees who are seen as genius/with a short training period, and this show took the two that most applied to and made them the public's *baby.* Everyone watching--you'll see the proportions in the next episode, specifically, but basically everyone--wanted Felix and Minho in the team after this. Because the show was edited in *every* possible way to show that the team is incomplete without them. There was no other reason to show that clip of Chan messing up the member count in this episode, or for the producers to fake people out with the doors opening so much, or to include Minho's "goodbye" letter to the members, or show exactly how much everyone broke down after the eliminations. They could've edited any of that down to be more palatable and professional--see ILAND's editing for comparison. But they didn't. Because the WHOLE point of the show was to make it so that JYPE wouldn't have to defend SKZ's team lineup when the fanbase would do it for them.

2023-11-14 12:41:24 +0000 UTCall the smiles and chan looking proudly at his kids and everyone being cramped in the recording studio is literally gold after the torture from last week. cam, you got us all like 🤗 too watching those scenes. an emotional rollercoaster from episode 8 to 9. now that minho is back can jisung literally never let go of his hand again? PLEASE. can't believe our skz watch parties are going to be done after next week! :((( it's been the most best fun ever!!!! i've loved this stray kids journey so far!! i'd suggest watching skz kingdom week after (aka the variety show mentioned at the end of kingdom legendary war) - episodes 3, 4 and 5 are the important ones as 1 and 2 are just recaps of the survival show, and they're legit a ray of sunshine after ALL the tears.
