Biokinetic - Chapter 7

Kenichi took his time returning to the boys locker room. He wanted to make sure that if there was a hole in the wall and Mineta discovered it, that he would be there to deal with it. The remainder of the class followed him in silence. As they split along gender lines to go to the appropriate place, the boys couldn't keep quiet anymore.

Ida marched right up to Kenichi waving his arms in a robotic fashion, “Kenichi-san, while I agree with what you said, was it really wise, or appropriate, to confront Aizawa-sensei in that manner?”

Kenichi shrugged after removing his gym shirt, “I have zero respect for Aizawa-sensei currently. His introduction to use was to berate us as if we were young children being loud. Then he proceeded to insult every student by calling us all irrational for taking eight whole seconds to quiet down. Any other teacher would have been happy that their students were mature enough to settle down and pay attention in a handful of seconds.”

“Yeah man, but aren't you scared you might get expelled for saying all that?”

Kenichi faced Kaminari and shook his head, “Not at all. If Aizawa-sensei dared to even attempt to expel me for that, he would be the one in deep trouble. Just think for a moment about what the fallout would be. I had a record breaking score on the practical exam. The previous record holder? All Might himself! Even if that isn't an indication of my potential, there's my Quirk and family to consider.”

“Your family?”

Kenichi faced Kirishima and sighed, “I'm not bragging when I say my family is one of the wealthiest in the country. I'd prefer not to flaunt that, but it is what it is. That wealth means that were are very well connected to businesses and political entities. Despite how it likes to act, U.A. is still a public school and must adhere to government mandated standards. Including the standards and procedures for expelling students. If Aizawa-sensei had expelled me outside, I would have had one hell of a legal case against the school and him personally. I cannot be punished for telling the truth.”

He looked down at Mineta with a scowl, “Technically, if he had expelled you Mineta-san, it would have opened him up to not just the case I would have had, but also a discrimination lawsuit. He would have, essentially, been saying that your Quirk, and therefore you, were not good enough for the school.”

Everyone winced at that. Discrimination was one of the uglier things about modern society. Many people with mutant Quirks had to deal with it on a regular basis and the lawsuits that could come about from it could be very ugly. If U.A. had a discrimination lawsuit filed against it, it would destroy the school's reputation instantly and irrevocably.

That thought brought silence as the students changed. By the time the boys all finished chaning, there'd been no noise from Mineta about finding a hole in the wall. Either it didn't exist, didn't exist yet, or (more likely) Mineta was just too worried and depressed over the earlier scare to try and look.

The boys joined the girls in the class and collected the information pamphlets on what they'd be learning that year. The first day wasn't really a day for classes and they honestly should have been at the opening ceremony. After that they were supposed to meet with the school councilor. It was skipping that meeting on Aizawa's orders that likely kept Mineta and Bakugo from instantly being expelled for their attitudes.

Everyone spent some time getting to know each other, their Quirks, and other things to try and make friends. Well, everyone except Bakugo and Todoroki who both blew off the rest of the class. Kenichi watched Todoroki leave and promised to himself that the first time he met Endevour he was going to pound the ever loving shit out of him... If he could get away with it. No need to go and get himself a criminal record.

Kenichi's attention was drawn to the front of the classroom and Midoriya walked in with his finger healed up and looking exhausted. Kenichi smiled to himself and carefully approached the skittish boy. When he got close he held his hand out toward Midoriya with a smile, “Midoriya Izuku right? Sorry if my rant against Aizawa-sensei delayed you in getting your finger treated. Honestly, the jerk should have sent you to the nurse right away instead of making you suffer through more testing in agony.”

Midoriya looked skittish and nervous as he reached out to shake hands with Kenichi, “It's not your fault.. um?”

Kenichi opened his mouth to provide his name just as their hands met. Instantly his stomach rebelled as the horrendous information on One For All flooded his mind. Kenishi quickly turned to the side and began vomiting violently. His eyes watered and his whole body shook violently in rejection of what he'd just experienced.

He completely lost his cool as he looked at Midoriya in horror and couldn't help speaking out, “What the hell is wrong with your Quirk?! It's the most disgusting and vile thing I've ever experienced! It's like someone took the Quirks of several people, butchered them, then put them together in bits and pieces using thread, tape, and safety pins to make some sort of eldritch horror! How are you even alive?!

His last question was practically shouted before he stumbled back and vomited once again. Kenichi had just meant to quietly and politely copy One For All to get examples of all of the Quirks it contained. He'd especially wanted to get his hands on Float from Shimura Nana, All Might's predecessor. Who didn't want the ability to fly unaided as a kid? The other Quirks were nifty, but he really wanted flight! Except, the moment he'd touched Midoriya he'd experienced the abomination that was One For All.

It would nearly be impossible for Kenichi to explain to someone else how he viewed the genetic information of someone else. It wasn't strings of code he could read. It was more like a feeling or a sense. Then within that feeling there was a bright spot that represented a persons Quirk. From that bright spot, there were branching tendrils that touched other pieces and made them stronger. He generally copied the branching pieces since those led to the enhancements to the human body that allowed Quirks to work without killing their users.

Midoriya's Quirk felt exactly as he had described it in his shock. It only took a little thought to understand why. The first owner of One For All was the brother of All For One. The story went that the brother was thought to be Quirkless so All For One forced a Quirk onto him, the original Stockpiling Quirk. That means that the first Quirk to combine with the brothers original Quirk was violently ripped out of someone and then, just as violently, shoved into the brother. There it combined with his original Quirk that let him pass his power on to someone else. One For All was born of violence and maintained that to this day. Every time it moved to a new host it ripped the previous host's Quirk out and added it to itself. It was just as violent and greedy as All For One was.

As Kenichi was struggling to keep his stomach under control and comprehending the abomination of a Quirk he'd just copied, Momo had come charging over to him. She gently held his shoulders and checked on him before turning to glare at Midoriya, “What did you do to him?!”

Poor Midoriya had no idea what was going on and was very clearly freaking out. Not only did Kenichi say some pretty bad stuff about his Quirk, but he'd very obviously become violently ill. Still he managed to stutter out, “I-I d-ddidn't do anything! We just shook hands!”

Kenichi gently pat Momo's hand to get her attention, “He didn't do anything.” Since the cat was already out of the bag, he continued, “It's my fault. When my Quirk read his I was caught completely off guard by how vile it was.”

“You 'read his quirk'? What does that mean?”

Kenichi, still pale and shivering, looked at Uraraka, who was standing next to Midoriya, and sighed, “My Quirk is Biokinesis. It mostly only works on myself and lets me change my body and biology as I see fit. One of the small things I can do to other people is get a complete understanding of their genetic structure by touching them.”

He cleared his throat and coughed, the last bit of vomit dislodging so he could spit it on the floor. He'd ask Momo to either find or make a mop and bucket so he could clean up the mess in a bit. Super regeneration did nothing for mental damage. With his throat clear his regeneration did heal the acid burns, “Part of that analysis is reading a persons Quirk as well. I don't know moreabout someone's Quirk, I just know it in a different way. It's also not something I can control. When I touch someone I read them, every time.”

He didn't feel the need to point out that by knowing someone's genetics so well that he could change his own genetics to match and therefore copy their Quirk. He looked directly at Midoriya and could see that shock and panic were warring for control of his face, “I don't know what happened to you or your Quirk but there is something seriously wrong with it.” He grimaced, “Also, it's definitely killing you slowly.”

Kenichi spoke into the dead silence that his last remark forced to descend on the room, “Momo, could you either find or make a mop and bucket? I'd like to clean up the mess I made.”

It was only after that moment that everyone noticed the piles of vomit on the floor and quickly began to vacate the area. The meet and greet was officially over and no one wanted to remain in that classroom. Everyone quickly vacated and left just the twins. Kenichi was one hundred percent certain Midoriya was going to hunt down All Might. Whatever, it would get him a meeting with the idiot and hopefully lead to him healing the dumb blonde.

It didn't take Momo long to find the cleaning supplies. She tried to clean up the mess for him but Kenichi insisted on doing it himself. As he was cleaning, Momo couldn't help asking, “Was Midoriya-san's Quirk really that bad?”

Kenichi nodded and looked directly into her eyes, “You know what I can do with my Quirk.” She nodded, she knew every detail just as Kenichi did, “It's like someone did what I can do in the most brutal, painful, and disgusting way possible. It was completely unnatural and violent. Worse, I could feel that it was made up of at least eight different people, only seven of whom had Quirks. It ripped those Quirks out of them and kept it for itself. How Midoriya-san is alive with it writhing around inside of him is beyond me.”

And it really was. Meta-knowledge aside, the feeling of One For All was just wrong. It felt like it should be ripping everything useful out of Midoriya before moving on. In a way it was. One For All was slowly eating away at Midoriya's life force to make itself stronger. If he had to guess, it'd been doing so since the beginning and that's where its stockpiled power came from. It was the very life of the people who had it previously. As it grew stronger, it ate their life force faster. If they hadn't all been murdered by All For One prematurely, none of them would have lived to old age.

Even without All For One kicking the shit out of him, All Might would be showing signs of weakening by now. The big lug was nearly fifty years old after all. Midoriya would show signs before even reaching the age of forty, if Kenichi had to guess. That excludes the damage he will likely do to himself and the possibility of Quirk Singularity messing with things. Just on its own, the Stockpiling Quirk would kill Midoriya before the age of fifty. It'd kill the next wielder even faster after that. The older it gets, the stronger it gets, the faster it will kill its host.

It was only as they were putting away the cleaned up cleaning supplies that the door to the classroom opened and revealed a disgruntled looking Aizawa. He looked at Kenichi and called out, “Yaoyorozu Kenichi, Principal Nezu wants to see you in his office, now.”

Kenichi nodded and looked at his sister, “I'll meet you at the entrance.”

Momo tilted her head in acknowledgment and collected her stuff to leave. Kenichi quietly followed Aizawa to the principals office. He wasn't nervous and it showed, which seemed to annoy Aizawa even more. He'd clearly gotten under his teachers skin with the verbal beat down earlier. It wasn't his fault that Aizawa didn't practice what he preached.

When to door to Nezu's office opened, Kenichi was not surprised to see Midoriya and All Might sitting in the room. However, he couldn't let them know that so he turned to face Aizawa, “I thought I was here to get reamed out for reaming you out. What're those two doing here?”

His lack of reaction to seeing All Might in person raised a few eyebrows, until they remembered who he was. He'd met many famous heroes, even internationally famous ones. Meeting All Might was just another Monday to Kenichi. Aizawa just shrugged and left the room. He hadn't been invited to the following meeting.

The silence stretched for a few moments before All Might gave an awkward cough, “Ah, Yaoyorozu-shonen, you're not here for whatever you seem to have said to Aizawa-kun.” When Kenichi focused on All Might and raised an inquisitive eyebrow, he continued, “This is about your reaction to Midoriya-shonen's Quirk.”

Kenichi grimaced in distaste. He couldn't help it. The feeling of One For All was just so foul that it was an involuntary reaction, “What about that abomination?”

“That is what I mean Yaoyorozu-shonen. As far as I know, Midoriya-shonen just has a strength enhancing Quirk that he can't quite control yet.”

Kenichi snorted at that, “Then you don't know shit about his Quirk. No offense, but you're not a Quirkologist and I don't believe you've ever studied Quirks in depth. Neither am I a Quirkologist, but I am uniquely qualified to talk about someones Quirk after I touch them. First and foremost, his Quirk's main function is notstrength enhancement. It's being able to be passed from one person to another, like a transferable cancer.”

That got some reactions out of everyone in the room. Nezu looked concerned at the wording Kenichi had clearly chosen with deliberate thought. He spoke up in an unusually serious tone, “Please, explain Kenichi-san.”

Kenichi nodded, “I'll try but you have to understand that what I learn through my Quirk can't be properly explained with words. I can come close but there's still a lack of depth to the explanation.”

When everyone nodded, Kenichi decided to lay it out quickly, “As I said, the primary purpose of Midoriya-san's Quirk is to be passed on to someone else. It's secondary function, what you believe to be simple strength enhancement, is actually a stockpiling Quirk. Strength and power is just a side effect. It's what it's stockpiling that's disconcerting, life force.”

That caused a ripple of shock to go through the room, “That's right, the Stockpiling section of that vile thing slowly murders the person in possession of it. I estimate that Midoriya-san wont live to see fifty. Less if he is subjected to too much physical stress, like more shattered limbs.” He glared heatedly at Midoriya causing him to cower a bit, “The more you hurt yourself, the faster you are literally killing yourself. The only way you can live to see your fifties is to pass that Quirk onto someone else, except doing so would be tantamount to murder, just as giving someone a deadly incurable disease would be. Whoever gave you that Quirk, has murdered you.”

That brought everyone up short. He didn't miss the furative glances being sent toward All Might from Midoriya and Nezu. Nor did he miss the look of guilt clouding All Might's face. So, he used that as a logical excuse for saying, “It was you that gave the Quirk to Midoriya-san, wasn't it All Might?”

While Nezu and All Might maintained their composure, Midoriya's jump of shock was a dead give away. Seeing that the jig was up, All Might slowly nodded, “I did.”

The next moment the room was filled with steam that quickly faded to reveal the shrunken form of All Might. Kenichi just Quirked an eyebrow, “Side effect of giving it up?”

All Might shook his head, “No. This happened before I even met Midoriya-shonen.” He lifted his shirt to show the horrendous scar on the side of his chest, “Around six years ago a vile villain injured me severely. Ever since then I've only been able to maintain my 'hero form' for a few hours a day.”

Kenichi gave All Might a flat stare before turning that stare onto Nezu, “I'm one hundred percent sure that Recovery Girl spoke to you of my healing capabilities. I know she did because my schedule has some time set aside each week to learn from her. Is there a particular reason I wasn't asked to heal All Might back to full health sometime over the last few weeks?”

Nezu and All Might descended into an awkward silence. Midoriya looked around confused before he focused on Kenichi. His voice was low and clearly very nervous as he addressed his fellow student, “Uh-uhm y-you could really heal All Might?”

Kenichi looked at Midoriya and nodded, “Easily, quickly, and with minimal effort. My Quirk lets me replicate the tissue of others so I can even replace missing organs and lost limbs. Since it's their DNA there's no chance of rejection.”

Midoriya's eyes were impossibly wide, “That's amazing!”

Kenichi smiled, happy that someone recognized the value of his Quirk. It was a left over bit of minor trauma from when his Quirk was just considered to be Shapeshifting and hadn't been acknowledged as powerful yet, “Thanks. Now if either of these two had bothered to contact me, I could have had All Might healed in an hour or two with minimal effort.”

All Might cleared his throat and was forced to wipe away some leaking blood, “Yes, we can get to that in a bit Yaoyorozu-shonen. First, I think I should explain the history of Midoriya-shonen's Quirk. As you guessed I was the one to give it to him. It's name is...

One For All.”

Okay so I think I need to explain my reasoning a little bit before you all rip me a new one over how I've described One For All.

First, lets all remember that One For All was created, accidentally, by All For One. He STOLE the Stockpiling Quirk from someone then forced it onto his 'Quirkless' brother, unaware of the original Quirk lurking within. No one can ever convince me that what All For One does is natural and not going to cause damage. After all, if I remember right, when he stole Ragdoll's Quirk it left her in a coma.

Second, the Stockpiling Quirk has to get energy from somewhere. Every Quirk I can think of has SOME sort of energy cost. It makes sense to me that the cost of building up energy into the Stockpile would be life energy. It definitely gains more power than it takes but it still has to take some to recover what is used AND grow the stockpile further.

Third, I can't imagine that the brutal fusion of the two original Quirks for One For All being forced together violently wouldn't be a bad thing. I also don't believe the taking of the other users Quirks is natural. IF it is, it would have to be a part of the first Quirk All For One's brother had, meaning it's related to the Quirk All For One and would likely be pretty violent itself. We don't know for sure since it seems to be a theme that the owners of One For All die just after passing the Quirk along. All Might being the first exception, even then he was originally Quirkless so wouldn't provide a valid data point.

So, to my way of thinking, One For All is a brutally created Quirk that violently takes the Quirks of the people it's passed to. That's how I think Kenichi would perceive it.

HOWEVER! That does not make the Quirk itself evil or anything. It doesn't make it less than we see in the Manga and Anime. It's still been owned and used by good people to do good things. Kenichi's view on One For All does NOT take away anything that has been done with it.

Hope that helps!

Be gentle!

Yeah I agree too that’s why I like proactive fan fics where he actually trains before getting one for all because I doubt he even knows how to throw a punch properly

ExodiaTheForbiddenOne

Thanks for the chapter! Oh no! Can he extend Izuku's life? And maybe clean up his quirk in his body a bit, y'know optimize it. I can't help but like Izuku honestly even if I agree with you on how he wasted 10 years moping around

ShadowStalker1228

I somewhat agree, his quirk is very dangerous and immediately exposing it to Aoyama even of he's unwilling does rub me the wrong way.

ShadowStalker1228

I wasn't that bothered by the description, it makes sense. But it did very much bother me that he just shouted about being able to 'see' people's quirks in front of an unwilling spy for the guy he's been shitting himself over all this time... It just feels janky and rushed and seems to be using the typical plot armor of shounen stories that NONE of these teenagers are going to gossip and AfO somehow won't hear about it. And if he does it's gonna frankly tank this book because you've pulled the main villain into the spotlight way too soon or you have to contrive some reason why he doesn't act.
