Bryan Cranston in his autobiography opens the book in the first chapter describing this scene. He said that to get the emotional reaction with Jane choking he envisioned not the actress, Krysten Ritter, but his own real life daughter. He's described it as the most horrific scene he's ever filmed and he pulled his emotion from it by envisioning it was hs own daughter.
