WIP/status on upcoming Naturalis v1.1-alpha7
Added 2023-06-17 18:53:33 +0000 UTCHello everyone, here's a quick update on what to expect in the next release.
Clothing UI revamp
The clothing UI is getting a pretty big improvement. I'm trying to make it intuitive and easy to use even with all of the functionality that is offered, and capable of being expanded easily. The overall layout is coming together but might still change a little as I keep adding functionality.
I have a system for quickly prototyping different UI layouts by moving and resizing the elements without reloading the plugin. This will be useful for future development in other parts of the plugin!
Some improvements so far:
- A better layout, with elements placed right next to each other forming logical groups
- Better clothing item labels: "Item Name [Var package]", or if the item is not from a package it'll show "Item Name [Author]"
- Open clothing item customization directly from this window (same as clicking Customize in the person atom's Clothing tab)
- Profile preset saving and loading buttons (placeholders)
- Adjustments are split between tabs similar to the plugin's top level navigation tabs
Info panel
The a new info panel shows you all of the adjustments for all active profiles (combined values) and per left/right breast or glute. The panel can be hidden away temporarily, just like the Simulate Gravity panel.
The forces are shown in m/s^2 i.e. the actual acceleration value - you'll be able to see these values adapt to pose (or gravity simulation) and to breast size.
The amounts for all shown values are the combined amounts of all active profiles. If you have multiple active profiles, you might see that a value doesn't change even if you're adjusting a slider. That'd be because one of other profiles already applies the slider at a greater value.
With clothing adjustment sliders divided under two tabs, the info panel helps keep track of the overall status so that non-zero values on sliders that are currently not visible will still be shown in the info panel.
Other stuff that's done
- Navigation tab buttons resized
- The Hold % sliders will reduce hard collider mass to make the concept of "holding in place" apply better to collision as well
- Auto-compensate Z morphs offset when applying Reduce Size slider
- Clothing morphs (Reduce Size etc) are correctly reset if TittyMagic is disabled/removed, and are not saved unnecessarily to the scene JSON
- Fixed nipple erection morph being zeroed when scene is saved
- Adjusted the calibration pose, it was too forward leaning
A few major to-dos before the v1.1-alpha7 release
- Profile preset saving and loading functionality
- Included presets for a few common clothing items - these will be found by selecting the Naturalis var package in the file browser, that way I can have screenshots associated with them
- Suitable default presets for (most) built-in clothing items (can be overridden by setting your own preset as item default)
- Filter recognized clothing items based on clothing tags so that only chest area clothing will show up in TittyMagic and only hip area clothing will show up in BootyMagic
- Expose more of the clothing profile parameters to be triggerable
- For items in .var packages, ensure the adjustment profile isn't specific to the .var package
- Up/down and sideways tilt morphs for adjusting the clothed shape, should be useful for tweaking the cleavage shape. The morphs should be pretty easy to create from merging existing morphs, but need to be tested to ensure they actually rotate the breast in-place and don't make the overall morphing system kick in too much.
Final thoughts...
I don't want too many more alphas. Maybe the release after alpha7 could even be a beta. A few major things left to do include:
- Differentiation of soft physics parameter values on clothed vs naked skin
- Futa soft breast physics
- The maximum amount of breast morphing in different directions needs to be fixed, the limits are currently too high and result in distorted shapes when combining the clothing profile morph offsets with gravity or other forces.
- LDP physics optimizations
- Soft physics disabled optimizations
- Naturalis.cs will be converted to Naturalis.dll which you load directly, and a folder with separate scripts for auto-upgrading from tittymagic 5, auto-upgrading from an earlier Naturalis version and auto-reloading Naturalis with parameters intact. It'll be clearer what each script does and there are fewer potential problems.
... and pretty long list of minor lower priority things which aren't mentioned on the Trello board. Many of those could probably be left until v1.2 though.
I'm wondering if it'd make sense to allow setting user defaults for the overall TittyMagic and BootyMagic presets. Do you think that's needed? The plugin would detect if the default preset exists and apply it automatically when the plugin is added.
