🔧 Devlog 13 – 20k words patch, combat and a special preview

Hey everyone!
This week has been... chaotic 😅

I had one of those random surges of inspiration and ended up spending my entire weekend writing something that just clicked while working on the stadium content.
The result? Around 7,000 words written on top of everything else I was already juggling.

I'm literally eating popcorn as I write this, trying to recover xD
It was super heavy in terms of keys, meaning a lot of logic and scene variations depending on your choices. But honestly? I'm happy with how it turned out. There are secret scenes, funny reactions, and a character that changes depending on their emotional state.
It was super fun to write.

And yes, we’re talking about a new male character 😳
I think many of you will really like him. I’m making a big effort not to show anything yet, since this is all content for after patch 0.4, aka version 0.5 (stadium arc).

✍️ Patch 0.4 will now include 20,000 words of content

Although I still need to review and test a lot of stuff - like scores, logic, romance/friendship progression (yes, I still have to finish the function for that 😭) and update old scenes to the new Decision Echo + Knowledge system - I really want to commit to something:

Patch 0.4 will now ship with 20k words, instead of the usual 15k!
That’s a 33% content increasem, but please be understanding if future patches sometimes go back to the 15k format. Some weeks are just more technical or visual by nature!

🥊 Combat Update (again lol)

Combat still isn’t exactly where I want it to be.
I’ve been doing stat work, balancing character progression based on training, level-up systems, etc.
It’s taking time, but we’re getting there!

In patch 0.4, you’ll already get access to the AI-based combat system I’ve been building, where the enemy adapts based on your past choices and patterns.

Here’s a quick video of Matt’s training session.
He quickly notices I’m spamming a stance and starts adjusting, even checking if I keep doing it or not.

Long story short: I lost xD

There’s still more I want to add to combat, and I’m hoping to finish it for patch 0.5. We’ll see... 😆

🎭 A peek at the cast (and a tease for the future)

Making this game and sharing weekly progress with you has been an absolute joy.
Let me share an updated visual of our current cast — along with 2 unrevealed characters who might join the roster in the future. 👀

🖼️ It’s just an image for now. If these characters do make it into the game, they’ll get the proper spotlight and reveal they deserve. Promise!

When I first started working on Trueclash, I really wanted the cast to feel diverse and representative.
Looking at them now, I think I’m getting there 💙
Still, I have even more ideas, designs, and personalities saved for later. There’s so much I want to bring to life.
