The fight you’re reading in dragon ball is longer than any the lord of the rings movies in the anime. Pretty wild stuff. Lots of padding. And just sayin’, Vegeta’s race is pronounced like sayin’ lol. It’s actually the word for Vegetable (ヤサイ, yasai) rearranged (サイヤ, saiya) and then the Kanji for person (人, Jin). So it’s サイヤ人 or saiya-jin, which is saiyan in the English dub. So it means vegetable person. That’s why Vegeta is the first half of Vegetable, Raditz sounds like radish, Kakarot is carrot and so on. Almost all the names in Dragon Ball are puns. Not just saiyans Kuririn is a portmantou of kuri, which is a chestnut, and shaolin, since his head is like a chestnut and he’s a monk. His is my favorite haha. You might already know all this stuff but I think it’s cool and kind funny how silly Toriyama is with all his names. Hope this was interesting lol. A lot of stuff is lost on us since we’re not reading it in the language it was originally written in. Sorry for the essay though haha
