You mentioned wanting to do voice work, would reading and talking about some of the old classics be something you'd be interested in? People loved hearing your background knowledge in the Rome play through and it'd give you a chance to practice your reading voice. It's a far way off from your normal videos though so it'd be a risk, but maybe as a one shot to see how much time would be needed for it and what the response would be.

Amy Mo

I honestly don't love the multiplayer things, like the Division miniseries or the Rainbox Six Siege or whatever. I mean I watched them (though I'm not sure about part 2 of the Division, honestly), but they are definitely not my favorites at all. I'm really not a social gamer with my own gaming--mainly it's one of my primary go-to antisocial activities. I don't mind it so much with you and Claire's co-ops (though there have been a couple I couldn't really get through)--partly, I think, that's because we know that Claire's a meaningful person to you in real life too, and that comes across in how you interact with each other in those videos. I actually really loved the "Who's Your Daddy" video, which makes me think that maybe PvP multiplayer might work better, because it gives me someone to root for. Also, with that one in particular, my sympathies shifted between you and Claire from one round to the next, which was fun. I also loved the Democracy 3 video you two did way back when, because while you were collaborating (more or less, if I recall correctly), you were also having really amusing banter about how to prioritize different social and economic policies and stuff. Of course I'm something of a politics nerd, so Democracy 3 was right up my alley. That's not to say that I haven't had some fun with your videos with Matt, but it's just kind of empty slapstick for me. Substantially, I think, because I watch your videos not just because you're awesome but because I like how you approach and experience and talk about story and design and stuff in the games you play, and in a multiplayer arena type thing, there really isn't any of that. It's a madcap free-for-all, which is diverting, but not something I'll make a point of setting time aside to watch. Watching other people play a game together, especially a fast-paced multiplayer shooter, feels kind of like eavesdropping on someone else's conversation at a party, for me. Which can be interesting or amusing from time to time, but there are generally better things to do at parties. So. In terms of channel structure, I actually quite like the longer series, though I understand how that could turn off new viewers. I'm kind of a completist myself, and so I hate running across something and seeing "Episode 37" or something, because I feel like I need to go back and watch the previous thirty-six episodes first, to catch up. I do appreciate the move to doubling up on videos when you're doing miniseries bits, because like you said if I'm not interested in one of the things I may very well be interested in the other one. I've actually been feeling recently like, as much as I like Fallout 4 and as much as I'm digging the No Guns run (I always seem to wind up playing sneaky-snipey in Fallout, myself, even when I try to do something else instead), I'm not sure that I need it two times a week. I know that on Mondays and Fridays there's something there that I'll enjoy watching, but I wouldn't mind it going down to once a week and the other slot being taken up with another regular or ongoing feature. I also just have to say that I miss the Sleuthing Saturdays. I've gone looking, a couple of times, in the Steam store for mystery games that could be worthy successors to LA Noire and Deadly Premonition, but it doesn't seem like there are all that many games that are actually mystery games of that sort. Which makes me sad, because for a good run there, Saturday was a day that I looked forward to every week on the channel. I do think, in terms of structure, that having distinct sorts of things that you schedule for a particular day of the week would be preferable for me. It seems like the level of weekly scheduling structure has been in flux for awhile, but I liked it a lot when I knew that, okay, the current mystery game was Saturday, Sunday was Fallout, Monday was Red Faction or Far Cry 4, Tuesday was whatever demented dating simulator you were walking us through on a given week, Wednesday was Why Not Wednesday, etc. I liked that, and when a given day's current game came to an end I could look forward to the next thing that was going to fill that slot, even if it was only for two or three or four parts. Anyway. Just a whole bunch of thoughts in response to or inspired by the Patroncast. Cheers!

Daniel J Pinney

Always remember that to double your success rate you also have to double your failure rate - in other words don't be afraid to try new things. I'm really loving the new Hitman vids, even though it's a game and franchise I've had no previous interest in.

Ian Walker

Jon, I sometimes had trouble following the division video because it wasn't always clear, unless you were paying very close attention to the character clothes, when you switched between characters. Maybe you could experiment with a split screen format for co-op videos? At least to see how the community likes it. This was also a problem for you and claire playing minecraft, as well as a couple other co-op videos.

Kat M

It's rather boring when everyone is just playing the same game I watch YouTubers for their personality and/or the way they play but when everyone's just playing the next big AAA title it seems to severely...limits their persona, if that makes sense. There's a few games you've played that I'm not particularly interested in but I enjoy the videos regardless due to how you structure your videos. While I'm sure your channel isn't completely massive because you don't just play every AAA title released the content is just leagues more fulfilling. I just finished Fallout 3: Kill Everything and it was just...wonderful, even though it's both a relatively old series and relatively old game it was still a joy to watch. Not that playing the latest AAA stuff is inherently bad just it's much nicer when a series has a direction and is, y'know, actually completed in some fashion. It sucks when you're part of a minority that wanted more of a series.

Steven Fraser

Yeah I see what you mean with The Division it's definitely different to virtually everything else you do videos on since there's not an awful lot of story content or just any...direction at all really. I liked it and the Rainbow Six videos for the comedy between the two of you more than anything else really. It was just a bit different to the norm I guess, not that you don't put out plenty of variety already and not that it isn't satisfactory.

Steven Fraser

I also helps that Claire & I have known each other for the better part of a decade - Matt & I are friends but we've only met in person once, and known each other online a bit over a year.

Many A True Nerd

Ahhh, Apuleius - I read the Golden Ass years ago - risque, even by today's standards. And I do love Aristophanes, so I can't deny the utter beauty and genius of Menander - I get something new out of Dyskolos every time, it's gorgeous.

Many A True Nerd

Working with Matt is also very interesting, because we chat a lot outside of making videos, and both of have very different online personas - not to say either of us are acting, but you naturally slip into a particular voice and mode when you make videos, so we end up just chatting for an hour, then we make the video and suddenly he's loud and angry and I'm saying flip...

Many A True Nerd

I love working with Matt too - I think right now, him, Dan & Claire are the only people I could confidently say I could do a solid collab with, as it's very hard to hard people who sync together well - I agree we could use better game choices too...

Many A True Nerd

I did consider it, but I get a few people accusing me of ripping off Dan on a daily basis, so I decided to stay away from the named and partitioned series titles like he has...

Many A True Nerd

You're right that I likely conflated some issues here - I wanted to avoid rambling too much and I do the discussions bits largely without notes, so stuff may be badly phrased - by focusing on creator errors, I certainly didn't mean to imply that claimaints haven't also been acting extremely badly - just that the picture is a bit more balanced than some YouTubers imply.

Many A True Nerd

Matt & I are definitely looking to do more live together - hopefully once Dan's reboot is done and livestreaming there continues, as well as my own livestreaming kicking off, we can do live stuff - and I also think outside of Betas we can do some more structured stuff that works.

Many A True Nerd

I've always wondered about Tale of Two Wastelands - it's awesome, but I'm not sure whether it would be that exciting without some additional twist...

Many A True Nerd

The mini-series I see what you mean - that's why I'm trying to always have something new on the same day as Part 2 of a mid-week mini-series, because then there's something even if you aren't interested in the game continuing. Sometimes, like roguelikes, there's a good reason, like I want to show an entire single short run until I succeed or die. Sometimes it's just that I have enough footage that I think I can make two solid 40 minute videos, and a single 1 hour 20 minute video tends to really put some people off...

Many A True Nerd

That's a cool case to see, thanks for flagging it - sadly it doesn't seem to have made much difference to behavior of claimaints on YouTube just yet...

Many A True Nerd

The multiplayer stuff, though, is interesting - I like it, but it's very heavily edited even by my standards, which is fine, but sometimes makes it a little unfocused, and I think Division didn't work so well because it wasn't always clear how the sections I included linked to each other perhaps...

Many A True Nerd

I totally agree on the 'like for next video' format - I've always hated that structure, since long before I started doing YouTube myself. I really do like the random nostalgia videos too - and they go down well in general, like people LOVED Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Rome Total War is one of the most often requested series to return.

Many A True Nerd

It was never something that appealed really - I always wanted it to be about the game and my voice, and I felt the face cam adds an element of physical acting that I don't think works well with my fast editing style.

Many A True Nerd

to Jon: if you ever do facecam, it should just be a livestream of Tabby. (while I would love more tabby, or for you to get a dog, don't do facecam)

Kat M

Yeah got my dates wrong lol

Reo Grover III

WOW. That's impressive given he's only been on Youtube since 2013.

Hazel

Did you ever experiment with facecams when starting out (or ever)? Also how is Tabby?

Samuel

There's a thing I totally forgot to mention, thanks for bringing it up - people making claims are actually supposed to a hell of a lot more careful about the claims and takedowns they issue now, but practically the situation hasn't changed one bit.

PointyHairedJedi

(First Patroncast here so excuse me for any comment etiquette failings) Perhaps you could utilize a site like Straw Poll to see if people want something as a series? That way there's a definitive resource for people to look at for why a series may or may not happen. Not that you should play what we want you to play all the time, at the end of the day if you don't want to make a series about something that's your choice and I'm sure most of us respect that. Many wanted to see Undertale but if you weren't enjoying it then it wouldn't be the same. I for one like the passion with which you play games, I'm not particularly interested in games like Hitman but I enjoy watching you play them and go through all the information that you do. You can make just about any game funny or interesting to me, there are few videos I choose not to watch from your channel for that reason. All the YouTube channels that just play the latest and most popular games feel really quite shallow, like they're not doing it for fun but just to cater to the crowd and it lowers the content quality in my opinion. If a YouTuber clearly has to drag themselves through a series until it's not popular then it's not nearly as fun to watch, most of those never get finished either because people move on to the next game. It's extremely unfulfilling for the viewer. The "Like for the next video" format just feels lazy, their series are based on what people want to watch, not what the content creator themselves make enjoyable to watch. But you do some...surprising videos compared to most, such as the Soul Calibur video you put up, who would have predicted that? To me that was brilliant, I played that game so much as a child and the nostalgia from watching that video was amazing. More interesting in the standard AAA videos going about anyway. The only thing I personally would like to see more of is more co-op or multiplayer between you and friends, again I'm not interested in Rainbow Six or The Division at all but those videos were hilarious, it didn't matter what was being played they were just a joy to watch. I saved those for when I was having a particularly boring day and it was marvellous. I feel more like that would add a great variety to the kind of videos you put out, I love all the informative videos about Fallout and such where you go really deep in to a game but also just some silly fun every now and then is great too. As for Patreon I think it's fine as it is, those of us who are donating now I think we can safely say simply want to. Of course more rewards adds more incentive to become a Patreon but you still need the money too, when you have a lot more Patrons you could do competitions or bigger giveaways, MATN merchandise, consoles perhaps, the usual sort of stuff. Better yet arrange tea parties so we can convene and worship the dark lord who shall not be named(mostly because I have no idea how to spell it) Right now I think Steam codes are plenty, they're a nice bonus to those who get them but I don't think people are here for that. It'd be kind of silly to come here expecting you to buy us a house or a Porsche.

Steven Fraser

Jon, I don't think you should feel pressured to cover new content. I think your strength is classic content. Your best playlists are your FO kill everything and no kill runs because you show such an immense level of expertise in those games--and you show sincere surprise when something new crops up. That's the entertainment value, for me anyway. On #WTFU, as a copyright lawyer I think you're correct, Jon, on most things. You're actually not correct when you say there's no precedent on this YouTube takedown process, however. A recent case came up in the US that I think you'll find interesting. Effectively, rights holders can't just send out takedown notices willy-nilly anymore. They have to consider fair use in sending out takedowns. So YouTube's ContentID system creates systemic problems for YouTube creators, and the ContentID system all-of-a-sudden seems unlawful if there isn't a check on it. Here's the case if you're interested--it took many years before going through the courts here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenz_v._Universal_Music_Corp. I of course agree with you on the unlicensed music front. It's just kind of silly for a YouTuber to think that syncing someone else's music to your video is a "fair use." That's just wrong. It's also the easiest way for ContentID to flag your video.

Phil

With 'The Division' there seemed to be nothing going on with the game itself. Certainly I haven't bothered with the second half. Nothing to do with the Jonophobia concept - the Rainbow Six Seige was tea-snortingly funny. This extends in general to the mini-series, maybe there's a tendency for them to be a bit flabby if there's not enough game to fill 90 minutes of content

Ian Walker

did anyone else sit there waiting for the end music to come on after goodbye? anyway, I was wondering if you'll ever do a tale of two wastelands run. fallout 3 into NV yolo run. ....that would be spectacular

John Aguilera

Regarding your The Division videos, a few other people have said it, you and Matt are great together and make a comical pair, it's just there's very little interesting about the game, it's mainly just the same as any other 3rd person shooter. While I like it when you do them occasionally such as Binary Domain for Why Not Wednesday, they're not a type of game I like watching often.

Kieran Torode

While I watched both Division videos, and thought a lot of it was funny, it just kinda seemed out of place. Would enjoy seeing more of you and Matt, but I kinda like the idea of more livestreams with him, over more set videos. I really agree with your WTFU views, and thanks for being so transparent on the matter, its really cool to have you taking so honestly about that kind of stuff.

Thomas Breen

(Whoops, hit enter too early...) Anyway, the heart of the issue is that the system is incredibly easily abused against channels and content creators who are, legally speaking, staying within the bounds of US fair use laws, and that currently there are basically no repercussions against anyone making false claims. To give a recent example of which I know personally, a fellow World of Tanks YouTuber had a video which he'd made of someone using a cheat mod for the game, taken down by that person - who was able to claim they had the copyright on that footage. Nothing to do with Wargaming, the actual company that makes the game, this was just a guy with a grudge who was able to take down someone else's video with no legal justification whatsoever. The system is currently that screwed up, and that's what people are getting so angry about - at least, the ones who have a fair idea what's going on, and not just those who (as you pointed out) aren't doing any kind of due diligence. The idea of YouTube turning into a place where, anytime a company or person doesn't like what you're saying about them, they can just censor you or even try and force you off the site entirely, is pretty scary, and that's really where we're headed right now. EDIT: Dug out the WoT video in particular, you can actually see the claimant name - and it's resulted in a copyright strike for MisterCroo's channel, limiting his channel until the claim gets dropped. Literally no blowback for the guy making the false claim, and nothing the channel owner can do to speed it up. Doesn't really fall under the fair use stuff I was talking about above (WG gives permission for YouTubers, basically), but it does illustrate how incredibly broken the system is right now. http://ritastatusreport.live/2016/02/23/aimbot-mods-seen-as-improved-aim-by-eu-support/

PointyHairedJedi

On the WTFU stuff, I quite agree that there are probably an awful lot of video makers who just do not do their homework prior to making content - but that has nothing to do with fair use, ultimately, those're people who just really don't understand their responsibilities these days, and are acting as though we're still in that era when merely being with an MCN was carte blanche to really put up any kind of gameplay footage. I think you're conflating some issues though, and it also sounds as if there are some things you're just not aware of. Some companies are smart about their usage polices, because they know positive exposure can drive sales (for which Minecraft is undoubtedly the poster child); other companies are not smart, are very restrictive, and some of them are called Nintendo. Again, though, company usage policies are a separate issue from fair use - I'll note here that I've only ever had ContentID false flags to deal with, as I don't use a lot of music, and it's only ever public domain stuff or similar. The meat of the fair use issue is at the moment how easily abused YouTube's systems are, both for ContentID claims and copyright claims. You touched on the ad revenue part of that; recently I had to hold a video because it got false flagged, and was expecting it to drag on for a least a couple of days, so didn't release it - because then the bulk of a the ad revenue for that video would have gone to someone else, and they'd have kept it even though the claim was erroneous. Fortunately, and for the first time ever in my personal experience, it was resolved in just a few hours, at the first stage of the dispute process; every other time I've done it, I've had to go through both steps, even if the contentID claim was patent nonsense (once, it was a Kevin Macleod track, that contentID claimed was by Bruno Mars). There are numerous instances of bands putting up their own music on YouTube and having someone else try to contentID claim it, I also recently ran across an egregious example in the form of US Marine Band recordings of out of copyright music being listed as non-monetizable, meaning someone somewhere has said they own the copyright to what are 100% public domain works. Where it gets really messed up is companies or individuals using the copyright claim system to take down videos or even whole channels with zero justification, and that's the part that's scaring people. TotalBiscuit and Jim Sterling have both been very high profile YouTubers on the wrong end of this; in TB's case, on one occasion it was Sega who was utterly abusing the system to take down videos and channels in order to improve their own video search rankings, it wasn't even about copyright or abuse of fair use (and it's why he boycotts Sega games to this day, as they've basically never apologised). Did Sega lose any privileges on their side because of that? No, the worst anyone has to deal with is bad publicity, as legally, YouTube's copyright claims aren't actually DMCA takedowns, which would have legal ramifications if someone made a false one. Best case scenario is someone takes down your video for 30 days, which if it's news or critical content (and therefore 100% under fair use) means the YouTuber loses out on ad revenue and possibly any relevancy the video might have had; worst case scenario, your channel disappears out from under you with no warning whatsover, which there are some very recent examples of (TB mentioned a couple, I forget the channel names though).

PointyHairedJedi

For the "How do I stop 2 parters being disappointing from a 'why no part 3' point of view" issue how about you call those "Many a True First Look" or "Jon tries out ........" or something like that? That way they already look like self contained mini series and if people campaign to make them full series you can launch an "Episode 1".

42.Computer

I love the dynamic between you and Matt. I've watched many livestreams with the two of you in, on Matt's channel and the Nerd Cubed channel. And I did enjoy The Division videos, however, the game just doesn't seem all that interesting to me. Any other person, or people, playing and I doubt I would have gotten through the videos. Basically, you need to find a decent co-op game that you can play together that the community would enjoy.

Solar Dragon

Hey Jon! This has nothing to do with the video but just wanted to say hi! I'm a new patreon (didn't even know about your patreon til the last fallout video) and I have been watching your videos since 2013 and i have just loved it! I think my favorites were the old fallout nv kill everything/ no kill run... Anyway, just wanted to say hey and thank you for you videos and hilarious rants! Your pretty much the only youtube gamer I actively follow

Reo Grover III

One mistake you are making is that fair use does not require permission or a license. What constitutes fair use even if the publisher tells you no is a complex question though, I will give you that.

Kurt Mueller

Regarding the Division videos, you got it right on one guess for me. I don't find anything about that game interesting in the slightest. The co-op aspect, I love. But if there's nothing good in the game for you to go on, it makes little difference who's playing.

EssKayAye

Ah yes you did say that, my bad. Thanks!

Trevor

I have to comment that I think you and Matt make a very nice team. Matt is an excellent foil to your sense of humor.

Larry Cordner

You could put links to a poll in your descriptions if you want a proper fan response with a way to show us directly why or why not a series happens.

EssKayAye

Great idea for how to solve the series requests! A livestream should be fun on a regular basis! The part of WTFU that I have been concerned by is the monetization question. False claims do exist, and sometimes maliciously, so that can hurt honest youtubers. I am glad you haven't had this issue often, though! Enforcing actual limitations and concerns on content are totally acceptable to me. You've given a very considerate response, thank you. Your dating sim voices are WONDERFUL, and I'm excited to hear about the new content! You should spread the word that you do voice acting and use Nichole as an example of your work. I wish I knew good groups to point you towards. I CRACKED UP at the Plutarch answer. But Aristophanes is the best.,,along with Apuleius ;)

Erin Trickett

My favorite recent videos are: 60 seconds, Fear Equation, Hitman, Who's your daddy, and Dyscourse. This is probably because they are slower and give you more time to react, which is what I like. My guess about the Division is that we are vested in you and Claire, but we don't know who Matt is. For myself, I thought they were funny and enjoyed them. However, I think I would prefer to watch you stream it vs a youtube video.

Devoted2Mercury

Oh, it was absolutely enjoyable. You and Matt seem to have a really nice dynamic, and I enjoyed the commentary. I also really liked getting to see some of the gameplay mechanics and whatnot. I guess this is a reflection of what I like most about the gaming experience, which the story. I like the narrative. Not just the one created by the game, but also the narrative you bring to the experience. I absolutely look forward to all your videos, both series and one-off because I find the stories you tell as you play to be so entertaining. I'm actually hoping you'll do a Fallout 4 Kill Everything run in the near future, mostly because I like the idea of the lawyer mom who just goes a little mental after getting thawed out and really commits to the wastelander life. The Evil Jon stories you did with the other Fallout games were great, even (or especially) when they totally ignored the story the game wanted you to follow.

Jackie Coley

I'll likely change No Guns to Very Hard, and do a Survival fresh.

Many A True Nerd

I feel like the dynamic is better in that case because you're both next to each other in a physical space as opposed to VOIP (such as in Matt's case, correct me if I'm wrong). That way the conversation feels a bit more natural and there aren't missed cues created by the slight delay of VOIP (e.g. two people start speaking at once and then both pause and wait for someone to take charge). My biggest gripe with multi-person on other channels is that sometimes the host will fail to address their audience at any point in the video and it's almost never the case that the 'secondary' person will address the audience. That's something I thought both you and Matt did well in The Division videos. I still enjoy those videos, I'm just making a more general statement towards my preference of the lone recorded videos.

Callum Crockett

I forget if you adressed this in the cast but for Fallout 4 YOLO is that going to be on Survival Mode when it comes out or will that be a seperate video, if one at all? Also, love the channel 👍i love love Fallout but im interested to see what the long running series videos will be after Fallout has calmed down. I came here for the Fallout videos originally but came to love all the content i ended up finding.

Trevor

Thanks for doing this! It's always illuminating to hear about the experience of making MATN from your perspective. Also, thanks for a very measured response to WTFU - I didn't really know much about it before today, but your account seems very thorough and fair.

John O'Briant

Interesting - do you feel the same way about the Jon/Claire stuff too?

Many A True Nerd

Dang. I guess I should get started on that The Many [A True Nerd] of Us fanfic, then! 😂 Thanks for the explanation; hopefully Naughty Dog has a change of heart sometime in the next few years (I mean, who KNOWS what YouTube norms and expectations will be years from now??).

Eric Place

(In relation to your comments on The Division videos) I have no issues whatsoever with you, Matt or The Division, I just don't like the dynamic of a multi-person video. When I'm watching/listening to a video- such as the Fallout videos- that you record by yourself it creates a very intimate feeling. Words feel like they are being spoken directly to me and the fun that you're having feels like something that I'm part of. This is in contrast to the multi-person video that creates a situation whereby I feel like I'm looking over the shoulder of other people having fun and therefore the reactions of the second person leaves me feeling somewhat mentally robbed of my own reaction. That's just my taste in videos though, If I had time to watch all of your videos I would most likely watch them anyway. My situation just means I would be more likely to pick other videos.

Callum Crockett

Regarding the Fair Use stuff, while I'm somewhere between your opinion and the rest of the Internet's opinions, the point you have to remember about the Internet is that its a fairly knowingly selfish place, and that many people, including me with certain bits of content, don't care about Intellectual Property in the first place, so why wouldn't people exploit an outdated and easily-manipulated law system regarding Fair Use.

ECH

The sad thing is, Naughty Dog aren't YouTube friendly - they haven't ever formalised any position, but have publicly stated they don't like monetised YouTube videos, and don't seem keen on any videos at all. Now, I could ignore them and maybe get away with it, but that would be exposing myself to risk, and ignoring the stated view of the dev. In cases where the devs have a preference against videos (like Bungie, or Quantic Dream), I tend to respect them and not do videos.

Many A True Nerd

Yeah, that's normally because Matt & I are fairly relaxed, and we hang out and chat for over an hour before we even get going, so it's much less focused than usual. It's different, but hopefully still enjoyable.

Many A True Nerd

I've found that The Division is quite less fun to watch than it is to play; friends have told me the same thing. Cover-based 3PS are generally better firsthand because [to the viewer] the enemy appears to be further away and less of a threat than he would be otherwise (FPS). The Last of Us can never be Call of Duty (hold that thought- more on TLOU below). The Division's tension doesn't come across vicariously/on video like it does in the player's mind. However, I still really enjoyed both videos because they were hilarious and I love the game and I wanted to see how your experience compared to mine (about the same... lots of funny Dark Zone misadventures)! I'm gonna keep pushing for The Last of Us until you play it... you might recall that I asked you about it during the GTA Community Event! It's reliably a 10-hour campaign your first time through, but I'm sure you could edit it down to 8x45min. And have you thought about the possibility of an Uncharted miniseries along the lines of your Assassin's Creed miniseries? MATN subscribers do enjoy story-driven games with iconic characters in pretty environments :)

Eric Place

Due diligence on your part is the main reason why you haven't had too many issues with copyright strikes and the like on youtube, but I think the fact that you do very few reviews plays into as well. I don't know how much of a problem it is, but attempting to silence criticism does seem to be part of the problem.

abhassl

About the Division videos.... I thought they were fun to watch. It actually makes me more interested in trying out the game at some point. I did think that it was kind of random, though. The first video seemed to just start in the middle, without the set up that normally accompanies your videos. So, perhaps there was less interest in the videos, particularly the second one, because of a lack of context about what was going on, story-wise in the game. Having recently moved from NYC, I loved just seeing the city depicted and watching you two run around and shoot looters and whatnot, but I didn't really understand why you were doing whatever you were doing for the couple of missions you played through.

Jackie Coley

Nice to finally know about you an Claire. Made me feel all squishy!

Tonie Platten

Forgot about that for a few minutss. I was thinking of like the Rapture-located Bioshocks though. Just a suggestion.

I did Infinite already - there's a permadeath 1999 Mode run :)

Thank you for answering my question on the WTFU issue (even if you didn't see my question I indirectly got a very good answer). I'm doing a college essay on the whole thing and getting a different opinion like this is really really really helpful and interesting to think on. (Also I really want "dance with your dad Timmy" on a shirt and or mug just because every time I see it I remember the video and I have a little giggle)

I may have to do shifts or something, where every hour the session restarts to give new people a chance to join.

You've mentioned a few times in the past that you've played/enjoyed the Bioshock franchise. Why don't you do Bioshock 1 or Infinite? I know that you shy away from long-running series because you've stated it in many Patroncasts, but it might be a cool series to do, like for Sea Saturdays or something.

True - which is partly a function of it being a Beta - there's more unstructured gameplay, and less upgrading and story around which to structure it, plus I tend to cut more, so it jumps around more.

There's stuff like Team Fortress 2, but the max in one game is 32 players. For more war-like and generally popular, you have Battlefield and stuff. But you're right about lots of players. All games have a max somewhere.

I'm commenting as I listen in chunks between baby tasks. On The Division videos, I really enjoyed the first one, but there wasn't a clear storytelling arc. I didn't feel compelled to watch both all the way through because it felt that I could jump around at any point during the videos and still get the (albeit hilarious) banter between the two of you. It didn't showcase the game so much as you guys' incredible chemistry. When is your funny movie a la Simon Pegg and Nick Frost going to be released?

I agree - what games allow me to host a game where the largest number of people can take part? Because the 30 or so in GTA V was very over-subscribed, and the community's grown a lot since then - so ideally I'd need something as many people as possible are allowed in as possible...

You should do some more multiplayer stuff for everybody, with stuff like Left 4 Dead or The Division or something. I think a lot of people would enjoy playing these kinds of games with you.

It's surprisingly good! Mainly as they clearly either love military history, or did a lot of admirable research.

Tank dating! Boy howdy

Though now I think on it, Fallout, RTW & FTL on rotation would be awesome.

The issue is more that there are loads of things I'd happily make a series of (I'd probably just play Fallout, Rome Total War, and FTL on rotation forever), but it had to be something a good amount of the community loves too, or I'm just annoying and driving away parts of the community.

Oh, I think I'll slowly look at that entire franchise - I have a vague idea that we'll have mid-week mini-series of Witcher 1, then 2, then 3, spaced out :)

You should totally play the Witcher 3 during a live stream!!!

Praetorian

You should just make a game a series if you actually enjoy it. If you're not enjoying it, it gets reflected in the video and makes it less interesting. Hopefully after a two parter, you can tell if you would enjoy continue playing it as well.
