There used to be a fully-functional MATN website. Can't seem to find it anymore. Did he scrap the original idea and start rebuilding?

DLSantini

Fallout or Fallout 2!

MisterH

"Hmm. I think Jon said something about the MATN wedbite being ready in April? or was it May? Either way, should be up now, right?" *sips tea whilst navigating**Tea now resides on my desk after some choking.* I hope you know that my coworkers know you as 'Bridge Ballast Brit' because I was watching that video while I was assembling a machine component.

Kat M

Something special? Hmmm... Deus ex? Maybe the old (there are mods to make it look better, but the AI is weathered by time), maybe Human Revolution? (As the new game is comung up)

nagi

I'll be the 4th person

Jon, interesting you commented on the legion, as myself and a good friend did chat about this, and while for a woman, the legion is a total downer, there are some tantalising hints that life under the legion may be at least preferable to living under the wasteland conditions that prevail. I'd love to see more legion content, particularly if it carried a lot of political intrigue. You can't discuss the legion on the Bethesda forums, it's too polluted was with what seem to be angry male teenagers who may well see some advantages to living under a male dominated dictatorship where women are broodmares. I put this down to a lack of empathy on their part... A New Vegas sequel? That's shut up and take my money talk.

In reference to the reveal several Patroncasts ago about how Jon and Claire are together I wonder if we should come up with an inside joke about that? Like say we say something about how Jon is gay or how it'd be terrible if he and Claire lived together and we end our comment with a P or something, so that people from Patreon know we're not being serious. It would be hilarious if we could make that a huge running joke...

if your thinking about overwatch for your colab game, see if Northernlion will play. i know alot of your viewers also watch NL videos and he ha splayed overwatch here and there.

Scott Redpath

200K Euro cup many a true nerd fifa!

Jack Beddoe

How about Caedo Genesis?

Jamie Bell

Jon, pay no heed to the 1%. You're the only youtuber that I can consistently watch and you put out great videos time and time again. I really appreciate the work you and will always be grateful on days where you give us two videos :)

Mike Waraksa

@Jon I already have a question for next month's Patroncast, inspired by the Rogue Squadron video (and other videos): How do you differentiate between a git and a numpty? Brits have such cool words. 😄

Eric Place

Oh man, I would love to see a Banner Saga playthrough, if only due to how much I loved that game.

Patrick Ralston

Do a Total War challenge run where you only use one type of unit?

Merle Neer

Oh yeah I wasn't meaning Jon was wrong to not enjoy it or anything just it's odd how different two peoples perspectives can be sometimes. For me I feel like the level design was fine, people would have complained if they made it totally different it's got to appeal to those who love the original and new players too. I feel it did a good job of upgrading most everything while still clearly being MGS and not an entirely different remake. Not that it's high in my list. Yeah I really hope he gives 3 a bash...hopefully he doesn't go for Phantom Pain. Though it would be an odd choice anyway since he's jumping in to somewhat the middle of the overall story. If nothing else I'd like to see him play 3 just to see his critique's of the game because nostalgia blinds me to major faults in it. Just talking about it is making me want to complete it for like the 20th time, hard to look at it objectively.

Steven Fraser

If you ever do decide to make a Civilization V video, might I humbly request you consider playing with the Expanded Content mods we made? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=392162444 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=415349082

I can understand how somebody can play Twin Snakes and come off with a bad impression of the franchise. Taking an old game, giving it modern gameplay upgrades, but not updating the level design is ridiculous. And that's not even taking into account the restrictive Gamecube controller, which required you to hold 3 different buttons to run and shoot at the same time. MGS3 is definitely the game to play if Jon ever does play a game from the series. Just remember to get MGS3: *Subsistence* because MGS3: Snake Eater has outdated camera controls.

MikeBurnFire

How about one of the classic Resident Evil games [maybe one of the recent remasters] for 200k special? Listening to your commentary as you battled through the terrible RE: 6 highlighted your fondness for the earlier games.

AlexR

I can't wait to see more Stellaris! That game really caught my attention! Speaking of Spore, for your possible future playthrough i'd suggest to focus on the creative part of the game (building your own creature/vehicles/buildings) rather than on strict gameplay. The first few phases are fun but at the time EA had Will Wright to dumb them down a little to appeal to younger audiences. It is also a really good game for roleplaying purposes, as your playstyle and choices influence the kind of perks you receive later and you can try to build from scratch an evil powerful galactic empire of terror or a peaceful community of merchants. As for practical information, the first stage takes from 10 to 30 minutes. The creature phase is a bit more fleshed out, depending on how much you are willing to upgrade estetically your character. I'd say the first 2 stages could be a single episode and the following 2 could have an episode each. The last phase is where the game reveals its original ambitious intents, it is literally huge and with the dlc you could even design entire planets and play player generated quests on them. Lastly, speaking of difficulty, the first 2 stages are really easy even on harder difficulties but as the game goes on choosing an higher difficulty can result in you being utterly destroyed, especially in the tribe and space stages. I hope this proves to be eventually useful!

Asked about favorite faction that deserves to be expanded on...forgot to say "besides Legion". Got legion answer because of course everyone wanted to see 10 Legion missions in NV. *derp derp derp forehead smack* Would love to see your idea of a New Vegas 2. A sequel set approximately 25 years after the events of NV 1 would provide lots of possibilities. An extremely elderly Caesar? Yes please. Perhaps the Prydwen shows up to help the BoS after the events in the Commonwealth to reunite the BoS factions? Even more yes. A new push by the NCR? Yes you may. The Immortal Mr. House? I'm already picking the House to win again.

Zack

Ha, odd that you dislike Metal Gear because of Twin Snakes because I actually loved that game(twas I who asked about Metal Gear) The way it went down with me was I was too poor to have a PlayStation when MGS came out but I had a PS2 and got MGS2 which is one of my favourite childhood games, going back to MGS was kind of underwhelming at the time. I realize objectively it's a great game but I could never get in to it. But then Twin Snakes came out with it's updated visuals and I loved it, it refurbished the joy I missed out on with the original and I found it awesome. MGS3 is hands down the best for me though if you play any of them on the channel you should check it out, chronologically I think it's the first in the series anyway so that works out quite well.

Steven Fraser

Play Theme Hospital (or Park) all the way through. It is British (one of the few), absolutely amazing, and would really suite your play style.

Knightcommander

I so want a Fallout to be in Britten now! New lore, new areas, new rules, new everything, BRING IT ON! 🇬🇧 And of course Seattle too, but I live here so it's not as exotic as the idea of playing somewhere outside the US. It'd also be cool to play in China!

Well, it's June 2 in Australia (which I think makes it June 1 in England, more or less), so you're very close with the dates - we'll just all pretend for a day. By the way, 'bold' and 'bald' sound quite a bit different in an Australian accent (or at least in my accent). Don't let the morons/haters get you down - most of us appreciate all the work you do, and no matter what videos you put up, when you put them up or how long they are, we'll be there to gratefully watch them. I like your idea of the British post-apocalyptic game, but unfortunately, I don't think a lot of people would play it (I would) - guns seem to be money in video games. I'd love to hear your take on the Australian political situation, but I suppose that would take some serious research to even make an informed opinion (which would be more than most people manage to have over here).

Keagan Wyatt

I would love to see more total war videos, love the franchise.

Bubbamax77

I want to believe that next month you'll get it on time.

Gracie

No worries - I certainly don't mind the odd comment, especially from folks I recognise the names of - it's only when it's accounts that I literally never see comment unless it's to complain that it bugs me.

Many A True Nerd

I'm a political nerd, and Corbyn is the most left-wing leader of Labour since Foot. He's a socialist, not a social democrat. Don't get me wrong, this is not an invalid point of view, but he is "quite left wing". He's not "far left" or "communist", nor is he "extreme" - and you are right, he is not as far as PODOMES or whatever, but he is rather left wing, and certainly, as I said, the most left-wing Labour leader since Foot, and perhaps the second or third most left-wing Labour leader since WW1 depending on where you rank Attlee

Teddy Boragina

Mass Effect you say...

Many A True Nerd

I like the way you think.

Many A True Nerd

Yes this has turned into quite a little rant, but I hope it explains a bit as to why some comments seem disproportional.

Teddy Boragina

It's the same as when 3 or 4 webcomic artists all decide to take a week off (almost certainly for a conference). They do it in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Suddenly in 2016, the only webcomic artist (I follow) that does post during this time period, also decided to go. Now he's taken away my only webcomic for that week. For him he's only taking a few days off, no biggie, but for me, everything has vanished all at once.

Teddy Boragina

It wasn't Jon I was "mad at". It simply came down to everything happening all at once that means I desperately needed very long videos, and everyone was producing short ones.

Teddy Boragina

Then MATN had a few back-to-back episodes that were 25 minutes or less. He switched to a new game (one I didn't care for, meaning those 25 minute videos were it) and my other LPers also moved to other games. This reduced the amount of time I could fill from about 6 hours way down to 35 minutes. In addition, a lot of the other shows I watch took time off. My "watch later" which would average 12 hours each day for a week, was literally sitting at 47 minutes. This meant I'd have to spend quite a bit of time just looking for new videos to fill in this now massive gap.

Teddy Boragina

My harshest comment came after I had stopped watching a certain video series (watching up of an old TV show) and for a few days in a row, MATN and the other LPers I follow put out VERY long videos. I remember one was near 2 hours. This was perfect. I had a massive hole in my schedule, and this filled it. As well the other people I followed also had long videos, and the other shows I watch had great episodes. In fact, I built up a backlog, and was unable to watch videos until 24 hours after they'd come out.

Teddy Boragina

I watch a lot of videos. I don't listen to music. My videos (that I watch) are always on in the background. Hence, 16 hours of video a day is a good minimum. I like LPs, but I really enjoy LPs of games I've played (like the fallouts) but don't care for LPs of games that I don't ever want to play (like total war). I also watch some comedy, like the late night shows from the USA. Kimmel and Colbert, etc etc etc. The late night shows will sometimes not air for a week (a week off) or on some days (US holidays) etc. As well LPers will sometimes change the games they play, some games end and others begin.

Teddy Boragina

I admit that I am one of those who complained about the short videos. I remember one time in particular, when MATN did directly comment on such comments, and feel the need to explain why it happened.

Teddy Boragina

Ok, this site is quirky on mobile, couldn't save my edit. Anyhow, I'd like to suggest a Divinty: Original Sin series. Fun old school style RPG, turn based combat, lively characters and MATN style humor throughout. Also, maybe a throwback crappy simulator for 200k? I still watch Bridge It from time to time, and must say the channel could stand to add some more bridge ballast. Anyway, keep up the good work, cheers!!

Ryan Selensky

Quite enjoyed my first Patroncast

Ryan Selensky

Interesting point you made about maskwork. I for one am for them, which is a ludicrous position for me to take given I am a makeup artist and therefore out of work for a mask play. An actor trained in maskwork wearing a properly made mask under well designed lighting will be initially acknowledged by the audience, but then accepted and forgotten and the show will go on as normal. It's strange, but I've seen it happen. Take for instance Titus Andronicus or Macbeth. Both of these are hugely bloody plays, but often the Costume Designer will incorporate a material distinctly not blood into her/his designs, a company in Japan used red yarn for Titus. In theatre the rules are very different, but if you do a crap job, no surprise if folks hate it. Then of course you've got your re-designs like Oedipus El Rey in which case masks are weird, (but again I've seen that work very nicely too).

Dylan O’Connor

Dishonored is one of the few games where I did a challenge run on my own. My second play through was no-kill, unseen, no upgrades. It took a lot of reloading and retrying but seeing all of those achievements pop at the end was very satisfying.

papercrane, The Cuddledemon

another game i think you might like is the mount and blade series, its where you start off as a basic person and work your way up through recruiting and such to lead a nation. The combat is first person as your character in medieval times. The version that is my favorite is mount and blade warband.

Jake Podolski

if you try sins of a solar empire, get sins of solar empire rebellion its the complete version, theres even massive overhauls mods for star wars, stargate, star trek, and someone is working on mass effect

Jake Podolski

Kerbal Space Program. No one expects it, nerdcubed loved it.

sam dettmann

I turn youtube comments off, they're just so toxic and hateful a majority of the time. I suspect that growing a channel probably means that's not a viable option for the owner, but I would at least operate a policy of ignorance toward them, not taking anything too seriously. Stick to the reddit, it's much more pleasant (which I know is an ironic thing to say).

Spoogle McGee

For the collab: Beaglerush would do well Funny and smart guy.

Cale

for the 200k may I suggest a Armored core game?

Silentcrawl3r

You're improving, that's still something! :)

compox

I declare this May 32nd!

So close, yet so far! :)
