I'm sure you'll have had this comment before, but for any potential Empire at War playthroughs, the Thrawn's Revenge mod is quite possibly the best way to experience the game, particularly as the base game ages. It also gives a nice overview of one of the most interesting eras of the old expanded universe.

2019-03-07 09:04:17 +0000 UTCJumping off from some of what was said here, I'd like to make a couple of general recommendations. 1: Natalie Haynes Stands Up For The Classics is a wonderfully accessable, very funny and fascinating radio 4 series about classical figures who may not be so well known to the general public. There don't seem to be any episodes on iPlayer currently, but there seem to be new or repeated episodes fairly regularly. 2: Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology, particularly in audio book format are wonderful retellings of... Well, Norse Mythology, which with Neil's fantastic narration, really gives you the feeling of an oral history being retold around fire.
