Many A True Nerd Patroncast - June 2023 (The Vacation Special)

Hi all!

The Patroncast is here, and this month I have two excuses...

Naturally, you can also watch the unlisted YouTube video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Kx5IC8r1fI

Or you can just download it from Google Drive if you prefer - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IOMVZSvc5BNY5AXJeBf8Vlw7sYyrl7ju/view?usp=sharing

And don't forget the entire playlist of Patroncasts too -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy8-DABMEx4&list=PLwH1xJhcXG0f38Jjmzko1yKXoTR_c2MFJ

And as for Ted... Well, this might explain exactly how he ended up with hay fever, actually.

I agree. I played 3 without playing the others. I looked up who a couple of the characters were when I came across them but that was it

Hi Jon, even if you were disappointed by the performance of the Mass Effect with no Friends series, it was the very reason that I found your channel! And now I watch almost everything you make.

Jon, I am almost sure that the nurse that is behind the counter in PokeCenter is working a job :) but yes, it seems like most people are not working any job, maybe they have UBI?

Oh my goodness, a Morrowind series would be awesome! That is the game that got me into video games. I've gone back and played so many times. I'd love to see you do a playthrough, especially since you usually do very minimal modding, staying pretty true to the OG.

Out of curiosity would you appreciate hearing feedback on why certain videos don't appeal? Like to be clear I recently rewatched your stellaris Apocalypse, Megacorp and Impossible Run Playthroughs and then your Total War Three Kingdoms Playthrough and am likely to rewatch your Crusader Kings Playthroughs next. Your content is one of the few things I like to rewatch and relisten to and is a great help and comfort during bad mental times. My question is not asking for an invitation to insult you. You have data showing for example that Resident Evil 4 didn't do well and that the Witcher one series lost views. It might help to hear at least one perspective on why those videos didn't appeal. I am incidentally all for a letsplay of the Witcher 2 or 3 because my issues with the Witcher one will not apply to those games. If you aren't interested then I respect that and I won't give the feedback.

Please, someone with a copy or a subscription to the economist, gift Jon a link to the Working from Troy article because we could listen to him talk about this for hours and learn more of the Iliad than the author of that piece did. Exasperated Jon is a rare treat.

Jon...please...Witcher 3 does not require you playing Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 first. There are connections across the games but IT IS NOT A TRILOGY. They were three games set in the same world with the same characters but DO NOT tell an interconnected story. Witcher 3 is specifically designed to be for new players because they realized new players would be picking the game up. There are callbacks to previous games, but they're less frequent even than callbacks to events in the novels, which at the time of the game's release were a pain in the ass to find in English and only got widespread reprints AFTER the success of Witcher 3. Please, Jon...listen to the casual fans like myself and the hardcore long-time Witcher fans who are both telling you that you DO NOT need to play the first two Witcher games to play Witcher 3.
