Added 2021-08-27 14:48:09 +0000 UTCThe Olympian goddess of wisdom and war and the adored patroness of the city of Athens. A virgin deity, she was also – somewhat paradoxically – associated with peace and handicrafts, especially spinning and weaving. Majestic and stern, Athena surpassed everybody in both of her main domains. In fact, even Ares feared her; and all Greek heroes asked her for help and advice.
I have been so excited about doing a piece of Athena! She seems to be one of the most well known goddesses out there and she appears in so many myths since she is often aiding Heroes.
I don't agree with all of her decisions (and for being the goddess of Wisdom, it sure seems like some of her choices make a mess of things), but I think it is amazing to have a goddess who is so strong and fits outside of standard gender roles, especially considering ancient Greek culture.
I'm a little stunned at how many hours this piece took. You'd think that I would get a little quicker at making these goddess pieces, but I think I'm getting more and more nitpicky with details the more that I do and it takes longer and longer! lol Oh well! I hope you like her!
