Did you recognize Gene Hackman as the blind man or Peter Boyle as the monster? The Inspector Kemp character is a direct take off from the 1960s movie "Dr. Strangelove (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb)". That's another movie you should watch. It stars Peter Sellers (playing 3 characters), George C. Scott and a host of others, and is actually a parody of a serious drama about nuclear war called "Fail Safe" staring Peter Fonda. Oh, hell, you should watch them both, with Fail Safe first, so you would understand the parody of Dr Stranelove.

Also I think you two would really enjoy Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Hilarious and has the actual original Universal monsters/actors.

You definitely should watch Mel Brook's History of the World Part 1. Also I am curious, did you catch the gag about Igor's hump changing sides?

Actually Mel Brooks is technically in the movie, he's the voice of the cat offscreen when it gets hit by the dart! Also does the VoiceOver when they first find the lab

Another great reaction! I'd suggest "See No Evil, Hear No Evil" for more Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor to boot. Thanks y'all!!

Plus, the black and white motif. Some people see the B & W element and think THIS movie is that old.

No, Mel Brooks is not in this one. Much of this movie consists of takeoffs
on the old movies Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of
Frankenstein. For example, the creation of the monster and the scene with
the little girl with the flowers come from the original Frankenstein (the
movie that first made Boris Karloff a star), the blind hermit and the unique
hairstyle of the creature's wife at the end come from Bride of Frankenstein,
and Igor the hunchback and the police official with the artificial arm come
from Son of Frankenstein.
