But wasn’t Idgy the bee charmer?

Oh, wow. I always wondered how she could be Mrs. Threadgood if Idgy’s last name was Threadgood. So the narrator, the lady talking with Evelyn, was the one getting married in the beginning of the movie? But then there was the honey and note on Ruth’s grave. I have not read the book, but I guess they wanted to change who Idgy was. She should have had a different married name then. I’m confused.

Loved watching with y’all. Just upgraded my membership today!! I’m So glad you watched this one! I think a lot of people (reactors) shy away from movies like this because of the intense subject matter. But I’ve watched yall do so many great movies and i just love both your hearts. 🥰

she doesn't have dementia; you can tell by the way they look at one another. it was a fun slow reveal. She brought her to the cemetery to find that note on purpose.

The book makes it clearer. The movie messed around with some of the characters ages and how they are interrelated, so I think that causes confusion. However, I suspect that is possibly intentional to give it that magical charm of Mrs Threadgood and Idgie being the same character. 🤷♀️

in the book, Idggy is not the jessica tandy character. in the movie it absolutely is and she does not have dementia.

In the book, they heavily allude to them being lesbians but in the movie theyre just close friends with weird tension who hold their gaze a lil too long. 😆 I dont like friend Green tomatoes either. Let that suckah ripen!

One of my favorite reactions to date. Both of you have such loving hearts and empathy.
Ninny, the narrator, isn't Idgie. She's Idgie's sister (in-law). I'm not sure, but I had wondered if it was Ninny that was getting married at the beginning. The movie says that Ninny was caring for Mrs Otis, which is Sippsy's sister, which is how she knew the story of who really killed Frank. The movie jacked around some of the character relationships and ages, which made it difficult to piece things together. It took watching the movie a second time for me to figure out that they were 2 different but related people. Most of the clues indicating that are in the very beginning of the movie.

What confuses me is Mrs. Threadgood telling Evelyn at the beginning she married Idgie’s brother Cleo. But then she’s Idgie? Absolutely love this movie though. ❤️

Love this movie and loved ya'lls reaction. We read this in school back in the day, and the concept back then didn't quite click until I was a bit older and watched the movie then rereading the book. Jessica Tandy who in the film told the story to Kathy Bates, in the 1940s and 1950s was a real dish in Hollywood she was involved with some major Male Stars like Cary Grant. Amazingly she married a wonderful actor named Hume Cronyn (Hitchcock's Shadow of A Doubt) complete opposite of the most handsome men in Hollywood. But Hume won Jessica's ❤️

Okay, I just looked this up. Some people interpret Ninny to in fact be Idgie, while others say that Ninny is a completely separate character, and the movie leaves it up to the viewer to decide what you want to believe. However, in the book version, Ninny and Idgie are absolutely different people.
