Yeah, Jayce is being biased here, but also, remember, this is LoL, where Sex-based discrimination is almost never a thing, and certainly isn't in 'modern' Piltover/Zaun. And, yes, it is absolutely an oversimplification.

I really like your work but I think this opinion stereotypes prostitution to much it really took me out of the read. I really enjoyed your example about mercenaries and diplomats. It makes sense that people with a job would put that job first and love and sex are hard to separate even if they are two different things cause they're so interwoven. This is just my opinion but I think the argument fell when you brought morality into it because you kinda generalized an entire trade and distilled it into pleasure versus discipline which applies more to the buyers than sellers in this argument. Not saying it can't apply just that you applied it to everyone which feels like an oversimplification of a very complex real life topic. It felt like a Victorian gentleman saying the poor need to get off the gin, pull themselves up by their bootstraps and walk themselves into the workhouse. Maybe that was intentional 🤔.

Next chapter will give updated physical descriptions, and, while they'll be a bit healthier and more fit, they're still them, so they'll look roughly like they did in Arcane, sans tattoos and piercings. Maybe a little more full figured, on account of not suffering from malnutrition, but that's it. What I have in mind for Piper, once she's at post-timeskipe age, is pretty much this: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fb50jxebdpsg81.png

So, love this story. It's the only Arcane SI I've found that's any good. I don't mind the philosophy discussion (debate?), It's interesting but when the releases are so far apart I can't help but want progress on more interesting plot points and characters. I have zero interest in the prostitute yordle and if he takes a yordle into his future harem I would want him to adjust them to more human size and features. On a side note, I'd have to reread but I don't think we got a updated physical description of the characters. How close are they to their canon selves? I love the character design of Jinx in Arcane so I hope she goes a similar route here, at the very least with the hair style. Not a huge fan of tattoos even if she made them look good, although, she wouldn't have the emotional trauma to get blue clouds/smoke the color of that flare.

Close but not quite. It is true that women historically did not have a lot choices in the things they do to earn money, but being a whore is almost always a choice. Short of getting forcefully addicted to drugs like what happens a lot in South America, or the pimp having connections that block all other options, women have options, maybe not good ones, such as back breaking labor, but it is an option. And if they choose the easiest option most women have, being a prostitute that more or less gives you a measure of their character. Just look at porn stars like Riley Reed, or Mia Khalifa, how they complain that their lives are a depressing mess with little to zero contact with their parents, few friends and no long-term stable relationships. This goes doubly in a world like arcane that is supernatural where someone like Violet is throwing around guys almost twice her size, where they have magic and many other options for power and wealth. What this Jayce is pretty much saying that he cannot ever trust someone who not only takes the easiest option available to them, but does nothing to get out of it or improve themselves in any way. Babette did not have to be a whore, she has always had magic and thus many, many options on what she could have chosen to do, but she choose prostitution, it speaks poorly of her character and her will to surmount a challenge.

Woof. Those are some takes that’ll burn up a thread for days. Aside from the entire speech, I’m not sure what to take away from Jayce’s opinion here. Is he saying that prostitution is not justifiable as an excuse for Arcane!women since they have the benefit of equalized stats and historical importance to men and can thus perform hard labor without societal pressure, in contrast to RL!Earth Women who have less physical strength and independence, historically speaking?
