Remember, Agents work on the Dimensional Frontier of The Company's operations, so until someone complained, all The Company knows is the Vamp kept providing Product, so was paid according to his contract, and his Manager went 'Nah, it's cool', so a larger investigation never happened. Had the Manager not been getting a kickback (which if you're caught (and only if you're caught) is a big no-no (though anyone also getting a kickback probably won't turn you in lest they get noticed doing so as well)), they wouldn't've even gotten in trouble, and might have even gotten a promotion for 'creative asset utilization', though, in turn, the Manager probably didn't know what the Vamp was doing herself, as... why should she? And, you have to remember that Kens are the lowest of the low, they're expected to drop like flies, and it only happened 7 times over the course of 6+ years (Where, in this squad alone, the number of Kens lost was in the triple digits), which is unfortunate, but even Class C, the 'nicest' of the Classes, would go 'Looks like you can't cut it', while, if they'd stuck it out, broke the conditioning, and came back with a vengeance, they would've been respected, probably promoted out of the post, likely taking their Barbie Squad with them, whereupon those seven slots would be filled with an entirely brand new Squad. And as for the Managers in charge of the Loss Prevention Squads... There was a REASON they all got their souls eaten by a Company Arbitrator Azathoth.

So, not as bad as I through, must not have caught the part of him not recognizing Bombie, she must be stewing in the fact she barely escaped the same fate as some of the girls around her. I suppose the company or at least the guy managing this asshole overlooked his violations because he did not cause permanent harm to them. Although technically being the reason some of the previous Kens killed themselves because of what he did should have been something not so easily overlooked.

The part with the twilight mission went bad real fast but the resolution was satisfying (though the lack of greater focus on the Barbies learning they where raped and how they are dealing with it is kind of a bummer?) But the cliffhanger at the end is the clincher, is the team gonna have to fight a whipe host of multiverse characters? Because if a heavy hitter shows up they are toast...

2025-03-03 02:10:25 +0000 UTCThe Vamp didn't know who Boombie was either, so it was just Capbie, Shotbie, Medbie, and Snipbie who he'd victimized, along with a number of now dead Barbies, like Wheelbie, whose demise is why Boombie became Boombie, and the new Newbie was assigned to them. Boombie had, however (and this will come out in later chapters) dismissed Snipebie's paranoia of mind controllers, having never felt it before, until she was trapped in her own head, and was taking it particularly hard, while Newbie, who intellectually knew they existed, just went 'Oh, that was bad', not having heard the horror stories from the previous Barbies like Boombie had, so doesn't realize how close she came from having, to put it lightly, a pretty bad time. Edit: And, yeah, The Company is not a good place to work, though, even for The Company, what the Vamp did was wrong, it was just he was smart enough to pick targets that couldn't fight back (like most abusers do), except he just saw the armor and mentally went 'Ken', the lack of Kencifer's visible facial expressions not letting him twig to the fact that something was different about the situation, and so continued on with his standard biases.

2025-03-03 01:48:33 +0000 UTCGotta be honest, I shouldn't be surprised but I am at how the company is screwing over a team that is supposed to save their agents when they screw up. Like really, you want to save a few bucks so you hurt the people responsible for saving your most important product. I know things like this happen in real life, which is why I shouldn't be surprised but I am. As soon as I read that this was a recurring mission for them I knew something was up. It was just a lot worse than I expected. I know Capbie mentioned being raped in the previous chapter which is a fucking problem but not all of these girls are that tough. Unless I am mistaken Bombie still thought she was a virgin since the Ken she arrived with died to save them before they got around to it. The only good thing is that they don't remember what happened. Also I have to mention the inner monologue of Newbie especially the part where she was taught that just because a man is willing to do things with a woman when she asks its not a sign of weakness or spinelessness, and that if that had not been drilled into her head she would think lesser of Lee. Reminds me of the way most western women treat the men who are nice to and help the women they like.
