A Quick Update

Hi! I know it hasn't been that long since the full Steam and trailer reveal, but I've decided I want to do updates at the end of every month, just to give you an idea of how things are going on the game.

Which... leaves about 9 days of progress to cover here. Even still! There has been a little progress made, and I want to get into a good habit of sharing that information with you.

Mane / Tail Length

As you can see in the photo up top, there are new hair designs being added. These are specifically made to fit naturally with the already existing mane and tail styles, by either being shorter or longer versions of them. They can be mixed and matched same as any other appearance option, and maybe one day they'll even grow naturally if your pony's hair isn't trimmed for an extended period of time.

The Addition of a Virtual Keyboard

I spent a day or two setting up a way to call the Windows virtual keyboard when you're using a controller and interacting with input fields, only to find out that the Windows virtual keyboard doesn't natively support controllers and anyone playing this will have a physical keyboard nearby anyway, so –

The Removal of a Virtual Keyboard

I really just wanted to get full controller support certification on Steam, which apparently requires virtual keyboard functionality. Maybe in the future I'll circle back to this and find another solution, but for right now I've got bigger fish to fry.

A New Character

Cooper's dialogue has been updated to start referring to someone else at the station, and once the little mini 'quest' has been finished where you design your character, the ticket counter will open for business. You can probably guess that this is how you'll be entering and interacting with the world proper, and I suspect they'll be a lot more to show with that – and world generation in general – in my next progress report around the new year.

Sorry again it's such a quick one. In addition to not having much of the month left, I've been pretty overwhelmed with community feedback; not that I'm complaining! It's meant so much to me to read through all of the super kind comments, and realize there's already been a bunch more Steam wishlists than I had ever imagined getting this soon.

So, thank you for the support. The first milestone build is still planned for next year, hopefully around April, and I'll make sure to be back at the end of next month with a meatier update!

Comments

I will determine the game's value closer to launch, but I don't suspect it will be very much.

Zv'n

Will this need to be paid to play?

Honee-Poni

I... think? I guess having to manually bring up the on-screen keyboard would be annoying, but I don't actually have one to test for further compatibility.

Zv'n

would the game be playable on the Steam Deck?
