Didn't watch to the very end of the credits first time through - glad I did on a rewatch. XD In all seriousness, though, I do love going back and rewatching your videos because there's always something new to appreciate that I may have missed or glossed over in my initial viewing or something that is enhanced by having the context of the entire video. Thank you so much for all your hard work!

I recognised the accent you used for Peterson as Canadian! Not a terribly good Cdn accent (speaking as a Cdn), but identifiable and also funny as hell. Good job.

I subscribed and Patreon'd (what's the word for the verb form of this? Became a patron?) because of this video. I knew your stuff was good but man this is amazing.

Holy shit. You absolutely smacked it out of the park, yet again. Thank you so much Olly! There is nothing quite like your videos. I love your brand of philosophy and your brilliant production quality. Not only are they all fucking phenomenal but I think you are actually getting better with each one. Keep up the great work!

Snake would be a euphemism for Olly's penis. So yeah, that is the right word there.

I have gotten so used to seeing shirtless men wearing harnesses that I didn't even notice the wings.

Erich Sheogorath

So, I had to watch this twice. I had to just listen on the second go because Olly as Lucifer... ::fans self:: Lord have mercy!!!

Also, with Jordan and even, and maybe especially, the perverted version of his ideas as filtered through the White Nationalism so rampant and pandemic currently, we must recognize Hegel's master and slave dialectic being played out on an almost biblical scale . What we are seeing is the last vestiges of unchecked master mentality finally being drugged up from the darkest corners of the collective/respective unconscious and it is indeed a crisis for those who cling to it, as the master needs the slave more than the other; however, the slave must recognize that the house her hands have built was commissioned by the master, protected by the laws of the master, and both should admit individually and all of us collectively that there can and must be a peaceful transition of power. For that to happen each must not only recognize the other, but provide each a path to the dignity all humans have a right to. More importantly each must also accept their own hypocrisy, their own paradox and the fact that we don't know shit,

I love this. I tried to plod through Maps of Meaning and it is all over the place. I think Peterson wants so desperately to be taken seriously and is loathe to admit his wanton vanity and lust for his 15 minutes, that he has forgotten the other cornerstone set in Western philosophy by Socrates, besides moral absolutism, and this is aporia, Admit you don't know shit every once and awhile, actually, ideally every fucking day! Still I think Peterson gets a bad rap, because I am sure he deep down loathes that his base is the alt right, and also in the lefts vilification of him. I believe he is sincere in his efforts to help those disaffected and a lot of his critique of the left is spot on. One key piece of insight he has offered and I think in a way it is courageous, is the idea that we should not throw out the baby with the bath water when it comes to the history of Western hierarchic power structures. Yes in every age there exists ample examples of unfathomable brutality rank hypocrisy, e.g. slavery, colonialism etc, but let's not forget this same tradition, includes the history of freedom and consciousness, and for all its horseshit there is Bach or Joni Mitchell or fill in your subjective example of the sublime. We should never be afraid to criticize someone like Jefferson or Lincoln, but we should also be forgiven for celebrating them. As for nihilism, even that is a contradiction as if nothing is true, then even that is a lie, and the pursuit of philosophy is the pursuit of meaning, and if that is meaningless you are taking it all far to seriously. Still I think this is hands down the best critique of modern moral relativists that exist in any medium and I am so glad to be a patron.

Damn boy, You good!

and then he brings in Bertolt Brecht!!! <3

I think the word for the rhetorical device you are referring to is metaphor, not euphemism. Have a nice day!

Roro

Ohhh... I want to play with your snakes. That's not a euphemism... I just really like snakes.
