2020-11-17 10:37:12 +0000 UTCHi, wondering why the use of the "r" slur was needed? Many other words that could be used in its place there and is extremely frustrating to be caught unaware with it. Understand that this is a mistake that can be learnt from, but would appreciate an apology and assurance that Olly won't be using slurs (even bleeped out) on the channel again unless absolutely and completely necessary.

By the way, for me the main argument against 'democracy' being the only legitimate basis on which laws can be changed or amended is protection of minorities and disenfranchised groups. In fact, the whole 'political correctness' debate we currently see is rooted in a formerly politically dominant group being forced to make room for others, so to speak. The majority is not usually inclined to just grant minorities equal rights; those always had to be fought for, tooth and nail. There is an ideal of justice and equality (which of course always remains abstract); but more often than not making those in power even see that injustice is happening is extremely hard. Not because they're evil. But because privilege makes one blind in a sense, and power is seductive. Once they have it, almost everyone is reluctant to give up privilege _or_ power.
