Month End Post: May 2025 Wrap-Up

Well, well, well… What do we have here? Another month has flown by like Baxter sprinting from a heartfelt conversation. (What? Who said that?)

May was packed with updates, celebrations, and tons of behind-the-scenes magic. We celebrated birthdays, cast our first round of voice actors, and built a cookbook. We can’t wait to get into it all with you! 

Monthly Content Summary

We had a big month as a community! Here’s a quick summary of our five biggest events.

First, we celebrated Baxter’s birthday (May 19th). Folks from all over our socials wrote in with their favorite things about Baxter, and a word cloud was generated to give us an overview. Several hilariously ridiculous words made it in there. The link is included below, if you’d like to take a peek.

Next, Our Life was a part of the Steam Otome Festival from May 19-26! This event celebrated so many incredible otome games, and we’re honored to have been a part of it. 

Here’s a big one: We announced the voice actor cast list for the Step 1 kids! GB received a massive amount of auditions and was overjoyed to see so many renditions of Tam, Qiu, Ren, and Bax. In the end, four outstanding voice actors were chosen, and here they are!

We also announced the start of a new video series! We’ll be making sneak peek videos of Moments from OL 2 for everyone to check out. We’re going to start with Trick or Treat, so get ready for a little Halloween in June moment. 🎃

And finally, we wrapped up submissions on the Our Life Cookbook! If you missed this deadline, there’s a little wiggle room here, and you’re welcome to send your submission along to our community email. Here’s the link if you’re interested!

In scripting: GB hasn’t wrapped up a script or draft yet, but that is certainly on the way! She ended up working on two more drafts at the same time, so there’s been some awesome multitasking going on behind the scenes.

Additionally, she’s almost done with the fifth Moment script and has been tackling the linked Moments for Step 2! 

She notes that building this part of the game is especially tricky because of the linked scenes. 

A bit more about that: Linked Moments can notably change based on which choices you make.  These Moments have the most continuity together out of all the Moments in a Step. They also have shared scenes that can happen in either Moment depending on which you complete first or second, so drafting one means that GB is also planning parts of the other. 

In programming: GB is excited to announce that the end of Step 1 has almost been entirely finished! There’s just a small part left before it’s wrapped up. I personally can’t believe how far it’s come, and I know we’re all eager to see the full Step in action. 

Finally, in art: There’s been a bunch of fashion progress in art this month! Tons of new outfits were created, as well as alterations to existing BGs that you’ve been seeing on our Patreon.

That wraps up the month of May here at GB Patch Games! From birthdays to background art and auditions to ongoing scripts, we’re getting closer every day to that fall demo update.
