Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Full Length Reaction (Tori and Abby)

May the Force be with our Patrons! This reaction was recorded months ago. We decided to wait to publish it until we were able to record reactions to all 3 of the movies. For some reason, the Dark Side had a hold of Run to the Movies when it came to Star Wars reactions. The first attempt at having Tori watch this movie failed due to a malfunction, so this is only a first time reaction for Abby. However, Tori's aborted recording attempt was early last year, so her memory of the film was rather fuzzy, leading to quite an awesome reaction from them both.

The filming of the reaction to The Empire Strikes Back did, once again, encounter an issue. To be clear, this is extremely rare for us. The number of failed recordings can be counted on one hand.

Finally, within the past few days, we were able to record reactions to Empire and Return. Due to conflicting work schedules, we decided to have Tori watch those two films on her own. Then, in a little while, Abby will record reactions to them as well.

I think that you will really enjoy these videos! They are well worth the effort and delay. :)

We watched the movie on Disney Plus.

The film starts at the 50 second mark.

Make sure to watch the whole discussion portion... There may be... ;)

Oh, got to look that up! Or will it destroy Darth Vader for me forever? πŸ˜„

To answer your question about what the Lars family is farming, it is moisture farming, they are farming water because water on a desert planet is extremely scarce and precious. The in-universe origins of the nickname Ben has an interesting story behind it. Back in Obi-wan's younger days, he was order to protect a women named Satine Kryze who's recently became the leader of the Mandalorians and they spent significant time together and became extremely β€œclose” and Ben was her nickname for him. He would use it as a code name during the Clone Wars too.

David Prowse is the guy in the suit and you can find footage of him on set and it is frankly hilarious to hear him say the lines before Jones overdubbed them

Enjoyed this reaction. Never expected as much hair-style commentary, but that makes it unique I suppose. I REALLY enjoyed Toy kind of "interviewing" them after the watch with questions for them! Would like to see more of that where we can see the "interviewer" (hopefully Toy again for these or Marvel stuff and maybe Hannah for Star Trek stuff) and their reaction to the answers too. Since Andreas mentioned it above and I read a little of the comment before I watched the reaction, the storm trooper does bang his head into the door. Its when they rush in to confront C3PO and R2D2 while the others are trapped in the compactor. its in the background on the right. And yes its kinda funny. LOL! The lighsaber colors in the original trilogy don't really ever get explained but through various shows (Clone Wars animated series I think) they do explain that the crystal calls to the Jedi when they build their lightsaber and the color tends to be a reflection of the Jedi/crystal's personality (so blue for good, red for bad, not sure on the other colors). I am a giant kid at heart, so I say watch it at any age as long as you still have that child like wonder you can tap into. I actually liked Princess Leia in this as she is kind of a bad a** who hits more of the stormtroopers she shoots at than anyone.

Now I don't remember if it's this one or any other in the original tilogy, but there's a scene where a group of Storm Troopers passes thru a door and one of them slams his head into the doorway. I've seen clips of it but I can never seem to catch it in the movie itself! It's said to be in there though, and I think it's hilarious! I guess I'm just a big child... xD The CGI things that was added to this movie in the 90's were mainly some "animals" in the backgrounds of already existing scenes, that scene where a guy falls off the back of some animal, and the conversation between Han and Jabba. Back in my day we didn't get to see Jabba until episode VI!! I don't know if anything was added as they fly through the trench towards the end of the movie, I don't think so.... As far as I've heard, the colors of the laser sabres are personal preference. Obi-Wan and Darth Vader have blue and red to kinda illustrate opposites, good and evil. Later you'll see sabres in other colours too. Yes, there's a short person (who I had the honor to meet once, yeay! he's sadly passed now) inside R2-D2, and there's this skinny guy named Anthony Daniels inside C3PO. Luckily he stayed in shape for the prequels in the 90's, he's in those movies too! James Earl Jones in only the voice of Darth Vader though, there's another guy performing in the suit. Can't remember his name though. A lot of people doesn't like Princess Leia in this movie, but give her a break, she was in distress. You'll come to like her as you get to know her better! I usually don't recommend people to start watching this franchise 'cause I feel it's something you have to get into while you're still a kid, it's too much of a fairytale for adults, but if someones does like, I'm just glad! I'm really glad you guys liked it! Looking forward to keep on watching with you! :)
