It's easy to pin all of our accomplishments on the mobile suit. It is grander than any we have ever seen, able to seat whole teams in its cockpit and with guns that spit the doom of entire colonies. With it we could storm the frontiers of this new stellar community and demand other colonies bend knee to us. We could be the Kings and Queens of all space.
But to do such a thing would be to violate why we have such a machine in the first place. We built this tool to guard our home, the way you build fences and scarecrows. In this, we are justified. Our force is the force of defense. But were we to go out it would be as if we were building siege towers in the yards of our neighbor. This we should not do.
So we're turning Catl off. Not because we don't need it anymore but because our need for it will never cease. We cannot trust ourselves to live with it every day, lest it become our new normal. We must tell those who come after us whatever it takes to keep them afraid of its power. Not because it is dangerous, but because we are dangerous.
