ANNOUNCEMENT: The Plan for Puttsdale (and more!)

I’m excited to post the updates to “Welcome to Puttsdale” this month! Here’s how it’s gonna work:

THE ISSUES

The main problem with the game “Welcome to Puttsdale” is how LARGE it is. It’s at least 200,000 words at this point, and the code has hundreds of variables. I’ve been trying to simplify it for a while, and doing that takes almost as much time as writing!

The second problem is that I’ve learned a LOT about Twine since I started writing, so a lot of the original coding is me figuring things out. Now that I’m proficient in the platform, there’s a LOT I need to change.

THE SOLUTIONS

To fix these problems, I’ve been traferring this story into a new, fresh file, simplifying the coding as I go while keep and adding to the writing. It’s been taking a WHILE, but I’m almost there. The plan now is to break the game down into weeks, then publish them onto a website URL so that each week has its own domain. The variables will carry over, so you’ll be able to play from one week to the next as a single “game,” and on my end, I’ll be working with much more manageable files that are easier to update more frequently.

RELEASE SCHEDULE

Week 1 of the “Welcome to Puttsdale” re-release will be available to my VIP Patrons ($10) by May 7th. It will have a bunch of new content, a guide to finding it…and probably some bugs, too!!! We’ll fix it together, and when it’s ready, I’ll release it to all patrons, no later than May 21st.

Week 2 of the re-release will be available for VIP Patrons by May 28th with the same story: new content, a guide, and bugs to fix.

Week 3 and 4 of the re-release will be out in June, and Week 5 — the first week of ALL NEW CONTENT — will be out in July. Before the end of the summer, I should have the website up and running. A Complete Guide to Puttsdale (Volume 1) will then be released free to Patrons and also published for people to buy.

OTHER GAMES

As this is happening, I’ll of course continue to post updates and new games for $5+ Patrons. These games will mostly be commissions I’m working on at the same time! I’m excited for the posts this month: we have an update to Discipline Decisions coming on May 10th and a brand new fan-fiction story coming May 20th!! Next month, we’ll have an AMAZING new story coming out about a magic journal and the girl who uses it to turn her world upside-down…(I’ll probably post some teasers for VIPs, since that one is so exciting)

All of these dates, of course, are subject to change — but I’m hoping to stick with this schedule!!! And I’ll of course keep all of you posted. Thank you SO MUCH for your support, which is the only thing making this possible!!! The more support I have, the more time I can spend writing — so keep it up, and tell a friend!!! I’m hoping to dedicate more time in the coming days…and maybe eventually go full-time.
