From the 1st January 2025 onwards, you'll be charged every month
In return for monthly payments, I'll post monthly on Patreon, such as a video or an update post with my video-making progress
If you'd like to change the amount you're charged every month, you can read Patreon's guides on changing your tier and increasing your payment amount
As mentioned in my November 2024 update post, Patreon is updating its Terms of Service, requiring all creators to transition to monthly subscription payments. They, in turn, were required to do this because of Apple's policy on in-app purchases.
Your "per creation" membership will automatically be converted to a "per month" membership on the 1st January 2025. The amount you'll be charged will be the same, namely—
Early Access (£2 GBP / $3 USD per month)
Supporter (£5 GBP / $7 USD per month)
Producer (£10 GBP / $13.50 USD per month)
If you need help modifying your membership prior to the transition date, you can click on the above links, which will take you to guides written by Patreon.
I see every single donation as a remarkable vote of confidence—a signal of trust in what I do, how I work, and what I produce.
The least I could do, then, is to make a post at least once a month, such as a video or an update on my video-making progress. If I can't deliver on this (e.g., I'm taking a break from making videos), I'll suspend billing for the relevant month(s).
To be fully transparent, the nature of my work means that the updates I give can vary significantly. If I'm working on a documentary, which is a video that covers historical events which often have a significant amount of publicly available information about them, I can be more open about my work (although that said, I'm still going to withhold spoilers!).
If I'm working on an investigative report, which is a video that covers a current state of affairs that people wish to hide, I can't give many details (if at all) as that could jeopardise my investigation. These investigations can also end up taking a long time (e.g., Part 1 of the Averra Dossier took two months to investigate exhaustively), so I hope you'll all understand! Additionally, I may be unable to publish certain investigative reports for early access owing to a news embargo. I apologise for this in advance.
The move to monthly billing comes at a time when I wish to take YouTube a lot more seriously. YouTube is already a part-time job for me. Every continued vote of confidence you make moves me one step closer to making the dream of making it full-time a reality.
If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to either ask in the comments or via my private messages. Otherwise, thank you very much for your continued support.
Best,
Daniel
Edited (30 Dec 2024): Added point on investigative reports and early access.
