Here's something Patrons will get to see early: The first split-screen image I've shared of the game!
This has been working for a while now, but I have a hard time recording split-screen gameplay to show off, because I can only control one character at a time, heh.
First things first: It will only be local, split-screen multiplayer – so no online mode, I'm afraid!
But the idea is that players destroy the city and try to score the highest. So it's not really going to be "PvP": Players won't be attacking each other directly. (Because there's no way I could actually build satisfying combat for this sort of thing.)
In a sense, this makes it kind of a co-op game, because players work towards a common goal: Destroying the city, haha.
I'm not entirely sure how many players will be able to compete against each other, at the same time.
The minimum is going to be 2, definitely.
The vertically split screen works really well for 2 players, I think, but things get difficult once I want to have 4 players; each player's screen might become too small. That's something I'll need to try out, some time.
Alternatively, there could be a 2-player "co-op" mode, and a 4 (or more?) players "party mode", or some such: In the latter, instead of a split screen, there could be a single camera framing all players at once – much like Rampage. In that scenario, players lose control of the camera, but everyone gets full screen real estate. No idea if this could work without restraining the playable area, or anything, but it's definitely something I want to prototype, some time.
The other day I tried to upgrade to the latest Unity beta version (daring, I know) which broke the game's split-screen rendering in the most interesting way:

Hope Unity fixes this issue; otherwise I'll have to figure out what it's caused by and send in a detailed bug report.
If you have any questions, let me know in the comments!
