Novel Excerpts

I wanted to share some bits of the novels I’ve been working on, so I put together this PDF with excerpts and notes about four of them (Night After Night, Sigil, UFO Girl and the End of the World, and an as yet untitled isekai story).

Although I like to think I’m okay at putting words together, with novels in particular I struggle with plotting and also just getting up the discipline to do it. I’ve successfully done NaNoWriMo twice, but the resulting drafts were so deeply flawed and I was so burned out that I haven’t done anything with them in ages, so the month-long marathon approach apparently doesn’t work for me. I’m currently making a push to finish Night After Night, since (1) it’s a relatively short and fun story and (2) I used the worksheets from the Rock Your Plot book by Cathy Yardley to put together an outline I’m pretty happy with.

Sooo yeah. In any case I hope you enjoy whatever it is that I’ve assembled here.

Comments

Right now I don’t have the confidence in my novel writing to put chapters out one at a time in sequence. It’d be awesome if I could reach that point, but for now I think for zine stuff I’d have to stick to short stories.

That was actually a fun read. Just to throw out a crazy idea, why not write all your novels at the same time that way? Seriously, you like the 'zine thing. Make your own Analog or Omni and develop all the titles as a series. A lot of great sci-fi was written like that back in the day. That also might hit a wider demographic than a single novel would.
