Jaycee's Blog - Sun, Mar 13

This was a busy week, but what little time I had was spent trying to locate Priya. Unfortunately, she no longer works at city hall, so no luck there. She has also moved, so her old address is no longer valid. The person who lives there now wouldn't tell me her address, so that was a dead end. She did show up near my place once, but again she took off as soon as she noticed me coming out.I did get her licence plates, however, but without access to police records, that's not going to be very useful.

I had a conversation with the faeries about her memories of me, and they just shrugged it off. "Of course she was bound to remember what had happened at some point," Attitude said. "Mental spells don't last very long. Your only hope was that having forgotten about it for a while, she wouldn't re-examine what had gone on, or that she wouldn't dream about it. Guess that happened."

I guess some of it makes sense. We don't spend most of our time re-examining dormant memories, but they're available if we bring them up. When's the last time you thought about what you did during Spring Break 2010? A long time, I bet, but now that I've brought it up, it came back to mind (or not).

So according to Attitude, the spell couldn't have lasted more than a week or two. Her life probably returned to normal in the meantime, but something must have triggered them. A dream, an accidental memento, something someone said, whatever. So it's safe to say she remembers what happened and is ambivalent about it, otherwise she'd have made contact with me. But she knows that I know and probably knows that I know she remembers.

I asked the faeries if they wouldn't mind getting her to come in here next time she shows up, but they all declined for various reasons. Mostly, they think she should be left alone. Either she decides to come knocking on her own, or she decides to go on with her normal life and leave all this behind.

That's pretty much a red pill-blue pill scenario. We'll see what she chooses...
