You know what's fun about having a living sex doll and faeries as roommates? Pretty much any sexual fantasy you have can come true and no one gets hurt. The downside? The doll—even inert—is a little hard to explain when you have visitors. My family is coming to visit at the beginning of April and I'm not sure where I can hide her—or if I'm going to have any luck hiding her. I suspect the faeries will take advantage of the visit to inflict some kind of torture on me or my folks. I'm not sure which one terrifies me most: getting caught in some kind of embarrassing sexual scenario in front of my parents, or catching them in some such scenario. Either way, I should probably pre-book some time with a therapist.

But you don't want to hear about this. What you want to hear about is my meeting with Priya. I went to see the latest Batman movie over the weekend, all by myself. She approached me in the theatre's cafe while I was waiting for the movie. It was a public place and I was by myself (faeries don't much care for human movies, they think it shows a sheer lack of imagination.) Priya just sat on a chair opposite mine and gave me a long stare. Following the advice of my faeries, I waited silently until she spoke.

"I'm not sure why I'm here," she said.

"You want to know if you remember everything correctly," I volunteered.

After another pause, she nodded. "Yeah, I think I do."

"I don't know exactly what you remember," I said, "but yeah, it's probably true. They exist."

She looked around. "Are they listening or watching now?"

"No." I shook my head. "I'm by myself, far as I know."

"I want in," she said. "I want one to come live with me."

My eyes grew wide. I didn't think she knew what she was getting into, but she insisted. She wanted me to discuss it with my "roommates" (we were talking in vague terms because you never know who's listening) and see if one of them would accept to live with her. She wanted to come visit and make her case. I told her I wasn't sure that's how it worked. One didn't simply invite a faerie to come live with one, though honestly, I'm really not sure if that's true. I seem to have a knack to attract faeries, though I imagine that's just bad luck on my part.

At any rate, I did say I'd talk it over with my roomies and would get back to her. She should show up at my place in ten days. If the light outside was on, it'd mean the faeries had agreed to see her. If not, she should just leave and forget about it.

I'm still not sure why she'd want a faerie. She wasn't specific and said she'd only tell the faeries themselves. Maybe she's just playing on their curiosity or maybe she's got some more personal agenda she didn't want to share with me.

I haven't told the faeries about that just yet. For one thing, they've been going out a lot lately, so they haven't all been at home at the same time. But in a weird way, I think I'm worried that one or more of them will leave, and maybe I don't want to lose any of them.

Go figure.

Most of the story was about the owner of the doll, a writer who wasn’t any good. At least the person who wrote the series followed the golden rule of writing and wrote what they knew.

I was a potential customer, but their subscription interface was clunky and their customer service non-existent. They lost me even before it started. It was a train wreck. I'm sorry to hear they wasted some of your precious lifetime...

I’d never heard of Quibi before nor much after I found out about that show. It was soooo badly done, I’m suing to get that lost time back on my deathbed.

Isn't Quibi dead? I think you're the first person I run into that watched it...

Sounds like the plot of the miniseries “Dummy” on Quibi.
