Commission for Runei@FA featuring his Final Fantasy character beconing the viewer to come closer... that blade does look dangerous though~

Runei allowed me try out doing flat colors on his commission. I don't really know what to think about them, definetly not hard to do, but at the same time I'm not sure how much they add to the piece. Will keep on experimenting for sure as I really want to upgrade my art pieces somehow and while my lineart by this point is really advanced and hard to improve, the color... yeah, there is a lot to work on.

The flat colors layer is placed on the bottom, then the ink is placed on a top layer with transparency set to multiply. It removes all the white paper background and whatever pixel has differnt value then RGB 255/255/255 get's mixed into the color layer, visually fusing the ink with the colors.

Thanks! Yeah, I do remember that SW piece. It is one of my better works when it comes to light construction as the placing of shadows and light sources did build a nice feeling of depth in the background geometry~

Well you do essentially have a ton of practice doing lines and inking, so naturaly, coloring would be the next step. Am curious though, did you color in and re-ink digitally, or were you just able to add colors inside without any re-inking? Couldn't word it better, sorry- ^^; As for te piece, it still adds to the feeling~

Nice! i was just wondering about this heh. And I think it came out okay in terms of colors. I always thought your coloring was nice to begin with back when you did my star wars character and back when you did Rina.
