The idea of Superman being too good to be true has given way to so many different takes on his archetype, -- like Superman is lame unless he's evil Superman, for example -- that My Adventures With Superman uses it to address the character directly, including how characters in his circle -- Lois Lane included -- are also affected by it. It just so happens to be a real good allegory for patriarchy as well!

It's interesting how believable it is that people would question Superman's "ulterior motive" for trying to do the right thing. It's crazy how the idea of someone with that kind of power wanting to help because this world is his home, is such an unbelievable concept to many in this day an age.
