Honest Thoughts (Art)
Added 2020-12-25 06:20:00 +0000 UTCHello. I need your honest feedback regarding this jpeg file. This is supposed to be the first page (sketch) of the webcomic of Legend of the Arch Magus. It's the scene of Lark taking a form similar to the Sun God during his battle against the demon army, back in his prime.
I'm still uncertain if this quality will be enough for it to be popular on Tapas (or Webtoon). A single chapter with approx 20 pages costs 4 digits in USD. I'm not sure if I'm underpaying or overpaying the artist for this art.
The artist is currently creating the second page. If it passes my "quality requirement", I'll hire him to draw all of the chapters. I'll be the one making the script (panel flow, dialogue).
What are your thoughts?

And did this artist have a lookbook of his work for you to see? You can get a general idea from that so you don’t have to pay him for more work because I admit it is a use of his time and time is money but I definitely feel like this could be more thought out as a first page.

2021-01-01 23:19:05 +0000 UTCFor the first page/sketch usually the artwork is more detailed in order to catch the readers attention and as you unfold the storyline a lot of artists can get a little looser in details ( if that makes any sense). So I feel like this is still more concept art and not the finished product. I would have expected more. Hell, as a artist myself I expect more. Did he give you any general sketches for the layout of the page? What kinda requirements have you set/asked?
