Is no one going to mention that she is leaving the weight lifting area to go "lift weights" which is probably what the what is about

Ronokki

there are dirty work quotes in the dialogue

David Willis

I don't recognize any "Dirty Work" quotes in the dialogue; what am I missing? Or is Willis just implying that there exists a quote from it that suits this strip?

Yesss Jacob. Embrace the irritation

Regarding the potential Joyce/Dorothy relationship, I think lust is less her motivation and more a possible crush/love/wanting to be open and give Joyce compliments but struggling. Other than that, totally agree with your assessment.

Sarah in the last panel "...am I the baddie?"

I find an alternate, entirely satisfactory explanation for Dorothy's leaving (opposed to this this theorized mounting Joycelust people are wanting to see) is that she's realizing she really has been a third wheel on multiple conversations, and almost just harshed her supposed friend Joyce's happiness at feeling desired, something she KNOWS Joyce has been struggling with basically her entire life. And maybe has an inkling that she's upstaging whatever Sarah was trying to accomplish with Jacob here (Sarah is shooting her own foot with an artillery piece all on her own though.) I can see Dorothy having enough self awareness to realize she's not helping either situation and enough social grace to remove herself instead of making it worse. Which would also hurt extra on Dorothy because she's been struggling with the idea that she wants to be a leader who can solve everyone's problems, but isn't really helping anyone solve even one problem here. And I've made this argument before, but _even if_ Joycelust was Dorothy's motivation (a HUGELY uncertain "if", imo), that would mean Dorothy cares about ramming her own agenda through regardless of what Joyce wants, needs, feels happy about or is ready for? And how would that be any different than the caricature of what Joe is accused of being?

Shane Wegner

I also was confused. She's looking right and up, which indicates thinking inwardly. My guess would be that she uttered the remark about going to lift weights during her reverie, then said "wha?" in response to Sarah staring after Joyce, which she is doing in both the preceding and succeeding panels.

is Dorothy's "what" an internal conversation where she's incredulous that she's gonna lift weights, or a delayed reaction to Joyce somehow...?

And Jacob with the three pointer from half court!
