Well, it was a bit of a journey to get this shot done!

Teleporting trees, memory issues, missing textures… It's all sorted now, and the next shot should come out much faster now. I am currently halfway through rendering this specific shot, which will take 31 hours in total, and there is a second shot ready to be rendered after this one, along with the straight version.<...

First shot of "The Lodge" is done!

Currently completing the main animation loop, which will serve as a basis for the wider shots. After the next shot, the other ones should be completed at a faster rate.

I will also post the poll for Part 2 of the animation before the end of the week, with preview shots.

Ok, the first shot is almost done and ready to render!

I am trying to get footage out faster than I did on the park, with hopes of releasing "Part 1" for the end of the month.

I'll also launch a poll later this week for you guys to vote on what should happen in "Part 2" !

This should be Part 1, and I will upload shots as they get rendered like I did for "The Park".

You'll notice I added a bit of furniture and props to the scene. It looks nice, but when loading everything without any optimizations, I currently run out of video memory... I had to disable the clouds to render these 🫠.

The Lodge - Scenery preview

Hope everyone's having a good weekend! Just an update to say that the scenery is essentially done (still a few things I want to do, but it can wait), and I'll be moving forward with the animation.

The first screenshots should be out by the end of the week, and the first shots will start coming out next month.

I had other plans for this preview (you might notice the lack of mountains), but I didn't want to delay any longer.

Basically, I improved on what I did for the ground materials and used that method to texture the lodge. It's a bit technical, but in short, it saves a lot on memory and scene loading times without any loss in quality.

So this week has been busy! 

          First I spent a few days setting up nodes to load and paint materials directly in Houdini. The most notable use for this will be for the snow, and transitioning organically between different types of grounds, much better than the setup I had for previous sce...

Happy New Year everyone! 🎉

Got back to work on the scenery after a couple of weeks off. I'll try not to take too much time on it; making clouds and forests is fun and all, but it's not really the main attraction 😁.

Character update - Wolf paws

Owen and Amelia are finally ditching their cat paws for proper wolf ones 🐾

I think I will also rework their shape a little for "The Lodge" animation.

This time I am doing mixed species only to make sure the feline characters are used 🐱. For the straight version, the second species listed is the female one (so either fox or leopard).

Gaea 2.0 is still a bit buggy, but the results are quite good! This is just one tile of the full terrain, so I will have to generate the other ones - more mountains, with a lake in the middle.
