What I learned over the past few days is that I'm so incredibly out of practice drawing men that I don't have nearly the same sort of visual shorthand for adding variety to these designs. That's made more difficult because I'm a little less interested in the costume for these than I am their faces and hairstyles.

I'm sharing this as a sketchbook post because I feel very much like I'm still exploring this, jumping between cis/trans Daisy, which I don't often do with characters, but in a way Nintendo characters like Peach and Daisy feel so iconographic and less individualistic that I feel like you can kind of impose any kind of personality and identity onto them because they are so simple and like atomic....

Actually that's not true. I've been promising to share some brushes of mine for a while, these are some that I've been drawing Libby & Holly with, a lot of Peaches with (This page features the xerox pencil brush) and a gently not quite monowidth brush that I've complained about in the past 😂 Check the attachments below!
I went through a bunch of different iterations for this cover. Those of you who have been here a while might remember in some previous cover art posts that I mentioned DragonBall manga covers being an influence ⤵️ Not so much in theme as in the format of a consistent frame for the characters to interact with.

This has been a difficult week, I had to say goodbye to one of the cats I've had for almost 12 years yesterday due to lung cancer. I haven't quite made sense of anything in my brain yet because it was so shocking and jarring, when my dog passed last year I knew it was coming for months but this caught me completely off-balance.
