Poll #297 - Helkara's Archetypes - Pick two more!

Hey all,

I'm working on Helkara content over the weekend and should have a ruleset and introduction to it for you all by the 1st.

Currently, there are eight archetypes: Assassin, Bandit, Cultist, Inquisitor, Mercenary, Outlander, Sorcerer, and Warrior.

Below, I've created a list of 10 more that I randomly generated. The top two get added to the list.

I look forward to yo...

Call for Suggestions - Next big book?

Hey everyone!

Since the big OGL shakeup I’ve been going back and forth on what our spring project should be. I hoped to do something outside of 5e, but I recognize a lot of y’all feel comfortable there or at least with a system that’s similar. Plus I’ve seen some Kickstarters from colleagues of mine that weren’t TTRPG-related and they did not so good. If there was less uncertain...

Horror 1931 is coming! Give me some requests!

Hey all,

The poll for the next Kickstarted ended up with 1931 as the chosen period. 1931 was a pretty cool time for horror. Universal Monsters just kicked off that year with Phantom of the Opera, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dracula, and Frankenstein (followed closely by The Mummy and whole bunch more the following year).

It's also a period when H.P. Lovecraft wrote some of his most fam...

Poll #296 - Horror Kickstarter... Pick the Starting Sub-Genre

Hey folks!

While we continue to navigate the madness that is the OGL (OGLgate?), we're looking towards the future with our next Kickstarter. Fortunately, I planned on doing something outside of 5e even before this mess, so it doesn't really trip anything up.

The plan for the next Kickstarter is a horror RPG built on the MörkBorg engine. And since it's MB, it'll be very design-heavy...

Poll #295 - The Greater Powers of Helkara

Wooo! The poll series for developing our Sword & Sorcery world continues.

Here are the other polls if you've missed 'em:

Poll #294 - February Dungeons/Lairs themes

Happy hump day, folks!

It's the middle of January, so it's time to start thinking about what kinda content we're going to make in February.

Below are our monster options for the month. Pick the four that you like best. The top four picks get turned into Dungeons & Lairs monsters for the month of February. The theme this time is Greek monsters. Learn more about the monsters I've ...

Poll #293 - Heritages of Our Sword & Sorcery World (Probably Helkara)

Yep! More polls! Because we're world-building, y'all!

Next up, it's time to figure out our world's heritages. Since it's Sword & Sorcery, it'll be predominantly human. But I'm hardly one for not offering up some unique heritages, especially in a fantasy world.

Likely, there will be the traditional dwarf, elf, and halfling creatures (probably with new names). But we'll need a few...

Poll #292 - Name our Sword & Sorcery World

Oh boy, it's poll time! (I love polls.)

Now that we're going to be creating adventures set in our new dark fantasy/sword and sorcery world (don't worry, Dungeons & Lairs will still be setting agnostic), I need a name for the world.

After all, Dark Sun has Athas, Mörkborg has The Dying World, and Conan has Hyboria.

And like those other settings, this is a dark, awful world...

Poll #291 Pick a theme for Endless Journeys Into Sword and Sorcery #1

Hey all!

I'll be working on Endless Journeys stuff soon (since it's pretty much a given that Wizards will be changing the OGL). The latest rendition of Endless Journeys will be pretty similar mechanically to Fifth Edition, so if you understand 5e, you'll understand Endless Journeys. You will just need to learn some new terms for certain things.

Since I want Endless Journeys to have ...

Poll - Plans and Transitions

Hey everyone,

I'm putting up an anonymous poll here to get some feedback from you all in the face of the coming changes to the open gaming license. While I don't plan on continuing with 5e for eternity, it's not easy to just "get off the system."

Why we will continue to make 5e stuff in the short term.

A lot of you rely on us for your content and don't necessarily want...

What a day…

Hi everyone!

I’m sitting on my sofa relaxed for the first time since we heard about this mess back in December.

Just so everyone knows, I saw Paizo’s announcement. Myself and a few others in the #opendnd movement are organizing meetings with the folks over there. Should have something soon. View Post

We Will Continue with 5E (aka "Ermergerd Dave Make Up Yer Mind")

Hey all,

I just got off the phone with my attorney, Noah Downs, one of the heads of the #opendnd movement. He doesn't believe the MorkBorg strategy is good long-term. I guess I'll have to send back all these doom-metal albums I ordered.

Plus, I met with many of the creators in the same space, talking about keeping 5e alive.

Here's the plan. And I'm sorry that there's a l...

Foundry Issues

Hey all!

We're working on getting some of these Foundry issues that keep popping up resolved. We were using a third-party importer for a while, but the creator of the importer stopped keeping it updated. So now anything made before Dungeons/Lairs 48 or so doesn't work like it's supposed to.

Fortunately, we're working closely with the FoundryVTT dev team to figure out a solution to t...

Poll #289 - Endless Journeys/DMDave "Edginess"

Hey all,

As I'm starting to shape up the new rules system for Endless Journeys. Just to reiterate a couple points:

  • I have to use a new system as a reference for the content we create. Wizards of the Coast is giving us no other option, and everything we know is saying that they aren't going to renege on the 1.1 OGL.
  • Mörk Borg works best because it's got a ver...

What's next for Endless Journeys poll.

Hey all,

Kinda partnering up with the call for suggestions poll I just put out; I'm going to start developing different sections of these rules based on what you want to see. Below, I've got some basic options based on stuff that's already optional in the main ruleset.

Pick the thing you want most. And I'll make that.

So the basic rules are out. If you didn't already see them, check out the first document here: Endless Journeys Core Rules.

But here's where the real fun begins: we're going to take this simple, basic system and build it out.

Endless Journeys Announcement - DäveBorg Endless Journeys

Hey all!

Thanks so much for your feedback yesterday on Endless Journeys, both in chat and on Discord.

Since I posted v 1.0.4, a lot has happened.

Quick Poll - Your Endless Journey Must Haves

Here's our plans going forward

Hey all,

Insane day so far, but we're hanging in there. After a few meetings and chats with different folks and then seeing both the Kobold Press statement and DNDB's tweet, here's a rough idea of what we plan to do.

You will still get adventures you can use with Fifth Edition.

I will continue to post adventures on here but probably do so without the open gaming license in a...
