Sunday piano meditation - no. 18

As mentioned in the last post, my cute upright pianino isn't tuned yet - and I really don't want to present it to you like it sounds right now, it wouldn't do it justice at all. But as it happens I got a Nord Stage piano at my place since last Thursday, initially it was planned to record a live session with it yesterday, which then spontaneously got postponed due to sickness... Hmmm, what a pit...

My new piano :)

A little reversed picture series of the biggest change within my space during the last week - now my new piano has arrived! It is not tuned yet though, will be on Tuesday - til then it's still quite impossible to play on it. So looking forward to having a proper sounding piano so soon! Quite excited to be honest - and it's so cute as well (Do you see the little stick to lift the lid on the firs...

This will be the last recording from my old piano lady - which is already at her new/old owners place by now. She (yes, I think that specific piano is female haha) got picked up on Friday morning already, well, at least, that's how it was planned initially. But the logistic company kinda underestimated the size and weight (I'm still asking myself how haha - I mean it is a normal full size uprig...

Another guitar song :)

Cheryl Strayed - the forth song I wrote on the guitar, can't believe it myself. These are the notes I wrote down for myself in order to not forget what I was composing. Maybe you can understand a little of them too - I bet amongst you are way more advanced guitarists than me, haha. But I'm enjoying to write songs with my simple western guitar, it feels very intimate as you're almost hugging the...

I'm on the way to hop out of my flat - it is recording day again ahhh! Can't believe it! I always forget how much fun it is to be back in (home) studio, it's probably one of my favorite things to do, especially with people I like and even more if I like their approach to music too - honestly that's just the perfect combination, simply a perfect match if you have the luck to work like that. ...

Back home in Vienna, playing my old out of tune piano again, as you can easily tell.

Actually I have some news regarding that: I will give it back to the lady whom I bought it from a couple of years ago. We made a deal back then, that when the time has come for me to move on to a different city or a different piano, she would take it back. It was quite an emotional day for her, she immedi...

Earth‘s my home

I‘m split in half

Can’t explain why

I’m fighting against

What I can not define

If I close my eyes

The one side is bright

High-grown flowers shine

On birds in the sky

Now I’m blinking a bit

Just a hand above the ground

Float dark heavy clouds with

Monsters lurking around

And here is the improvisation of today, it's the piano in Nürnberg again, the same as last Sunday. Sometimes it feels a little funny to write these more or less personal insights into the void of the world wide web - not knowing who and if someone reads along. But then I remember a quote I heard some days ago - as an artist, you should create your art, your music, your work firstly for yoursel...

Feeling safe, Mainz, January '24

I had the privilege, luck and pleasure to start my year with two dear friends of mine - we rented a random Airbnb in the middle of where we're stayed at that moment so that we all needed about the same time to travel to our meetup. The days where filled with music (including recording sessions in the wardrobe), long walks, good food and the feeling of soft security - it was a long time ago that...

Another Sunday, another piano - today I'm at my best friends place in Nürnberg, Bavaria, Germany. You've actually heard this piano sound before, I've already played on it in early October :)

I wanna keep it short today - this year was a rollercoaster in every single way you can imagine. In some way I'm thankful for all the ups and downs - but in another I'm hoping that next year will be ...

Here I'm looking through the lens of this camera - like I'm looking back on this year right now. Lots of experiences were made within the last months, I learned a lot, had wonderful and hard very hard moments. But feeling more secure within myself now, a little older, a few more wrinkles showed up (haha, appreciating those though).

Hoping for a 2024 which overall feels a little lighter. I...

Merry Christmas everyone - frohe Weihnachten!

Enjoy this time of the year as much as possible, cook & eat nice food, go for slow walks with your grandparents and play around with the kids - it's always such a special atmosphere when everyone is coming together to celebrate :)

I apparently keep on presenting a different piano sound to you every week: This one is my mum's old Blüthner. It actually belonged to her sister before and only made its way to the countryside outside of Berlin a couple of years ago, when my mum moved out of our flat in Berlin and left her piano there for me - I preferred hers and had a way stronger connection to it, as it was the first piano ...

Still wondering if I'm looking back at last year and the memories it's brought me - or already taking a glance at the upcoming one :)

How and where are you gonna spend the rest of the year? I'm already home at my family's place, decided to come here earlier than usual - to get some chilled days here before the annual Christmas holiday chaos starts, it's always a hustle to move around and ...

Happy 2nd advent Sunday everyone!

Today's improvisation might be a little inspired by the wonderful film score by Yann Tiersen for "Amélie", which I played through the other day at a friends place, really late in the evening. I was sitting at their very old, pretty out of tune piano while they're were having late night tea and cigarettes by the kitchen table, a quite nice (maybe even mov...

This little improvisation was recorded on the old piano at a (new) friends place, shortly before dinner. Initially I was just invited for brunch this morning, but ended up staying the whole day with the couple and their guest (one of the musicians from Thursdays living room concert - Ivory Tusk is his artist name, if you want to check out his music, it's great!). We went for a very sunday-ish w...

Home Story @Berlin

Visited a beautiful, beautiful acoustic concert here in Vienna yesterday night, with the music of Ivory Tusk and Ian Fisher. It was so, so wonderful to be here, just listening to other artists being their pure self, sharing without a filter what they're feeling. It truly filled my heart and opened my soul - and reminded me of the beauty of music.

If my living room concert tonight is half ...

A very simple, steady one for this last Sunday in November. I'm almost on my way to the Yoga Studio where I'll host that Yin Yoga & Harp Session tonight - really looking forward to diving deeply into the sounds and the space we'll create together, hopefully more events like this to come!

Have a lovely Sunday night, take care & remember to take a minute (or six) for yourself :)

To me this tune sounds like it would be filled with starlight, uplifting and wide, like an open sky with some shimmering sparkles in there (also love how the high Ab - yes, we're in Ab major this Sunday - seems like it's ringing through the whole piece).

Have a lovely evening and a good night!

Hey there lovely people & good evening, today I won't say much, as I have to leave pretty soon - to a public dance session here in Vienna. I used to do some standard dancing when I was still living in Berlin with my at-that-time-boyfriend, who convinced me to join him for a Salsa dancing class - which I absolutely loved. We also went a couple of times after we moved to Vienna - but then we ...

Back in Vienna, playing on my old pitchy piano here. We're in F# minor today.

It is a warm autumn sun filled day outside, but I have stayed at home so far - it is good to spend some time inside, retreating, hibernating from time to time as well. I don't remember when was the last weekend that I spent so much time by myself at my place actually. And I think, it was and is a good decision. ...

I recorded this mellow melody on one of the many, many Steinways of the MTU Cork School of Music where I studied last year from January til June - a wonderful time and the reason why I gladly come back here as often as I can.

I actually thought about sharing the longer process of how these notes found their way into my fingers. It's a 15 min recording of me fooling around before, playing ...

'Lilian' - Polaroids @Berlin

As you've probably seen I shared the teaser for my upcoming music video with you a couple of days ago - we shot a good amount of polaroids on that day, here are some of them. Maybe some of you recognize the theme of this improvisation - I played this melody for the first time at my mum's piano in Brandenburg, Germany, a couple of years ago. Every time I play it it's a little different, especially the B-Part, but I still like the mystical atmosphere a lot.

Usually it's in E minor, but as my very old Viennese piano is a transposing instrument (it sounds a ...
