Vintage Inspiration Part 4

I love collecting vintage photos to use as inspiration for my shoots. I wish I could find the photographers of these photos and thank them for having the courage to take photos like these in a time when it was even less acceptable than it is now. There's something about vintage photos that has always inspired me. A raw, naturalistic look that isn't sought after anymore. Does anyone have any inf...

Owen Plays Ball

I dressed Owen in baseball gear and drove him to a local park for this summer photoshoot. He makes quite the handsome sportman. I applied eye black under his eyes and then spread it down his face as if blurred by tears. I think the mix of Owen's thick masculine energy and delicate tearful softness makes for quite a compelling image. I'm forever fascinated by the sweet gentility of masculinity.<...

David Goes for a Swim

April's model is David, a beautiful Dominican boy from New Jersey!

I first met David on instagram when he reached out to ask questions about my photography. He was struggling to come out to his friends and family and like many young gay men, he had turned to the internet to search for acceptance. I felt lucky to help build his confidence, even from afar, and assure him he was perfe...

Colorful Edits

One of my favorite hobbies is recoloring my favorite images. I particularly love isolating and augmenting certain colors to highlight and bring life to certain aspects of a photograph. This technique can be found all across my portrait work. Featured here is my recoloring of the work of vintage photographers, unknown photos from Tumblr/Pintrest/etc, and the following known sour...

Digital Art Collaboration with Tsk Tsk Art

A wonderful artist and follower of mine created these digital drawings of my photo with Owen, which I composited together into this photo-drawing hybrid. I think these two mediums provide a lovely contrast! You can follow Tsk Tsk and his work @tsk_tsk_art on instagram.

Zach in Autumn

The virus is sweeping the world, and many of us have to stay at home, so I thought I'd release a bonus shoot this month from my archives. I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. ❤️

I met Zach in November of 2018, a few weeks after his 18th birthday. He had been following my instagram page, asking if he could model for a whole year, and I promised him a shoot for his birthday. He ...

Meeting Photographer Terry Smith PART 2

Last year I made a trip to New York City to meet one of my favorite photographers, Terry Smith, a 35mm film photographer from San Diego. I got to collect digital versions of some unpublished work and some other classics, and I'm excited to share some more favorites with you today. Terry is a fascinating man, and his work greatly inspires me. Read more about Terry's story below, via artfixd...

Nikolai takes a bath

Here's my second photo set with Nikolai, in both color and black & white. My 20-year-old Russian friend was still too nervous to take off his underwear when we shot these last year, but luckily he became more adventurous in our more recent shoots I'm currently editing!

I love photographing wet skin, especially Nikolai's. Gleaming, flexing and expanding in the light. For now, Nik...

Ryan Cliffside

March's model is Ryan. (Yes, we share the same name!) Last spring I explored a Rhode Island graffiti park and ocean cliffside with a boy I met on instagram. A fan of my page, Ryan messaged me that he would love to model nude for me, although he had never done anything like it before. A 19-year-old college film student, Ryan shoots on film himself, and he was excited to discuss and contribute to...

Dio in the Nude

February's model is Dio!  I'm so excited to share my very first fully nude photo set from last year! Beautiful Dio is a college student from Connecticut who's studying viola performance. Calm, small and a little nerdy- I never expected the ferocious sensual energy I uncovered.

I asked him to do a shoot with me on a whim, booking a small room for us to escape the winter cold. There's...

Behind-the-scenes Video

A year and a half ago I began my male portrait series, exploring masculine expression and sensuality.  I've always gotten a lot of questions about what my photoshoots are like. So, I delved back into my archives to put together this behind-the-scenes video. I hope you enjoy- thank you so much for being a patron.

Nikolai in Color

Today I share with you my entire first photo set with Nikolai, one of my fans' favorite models. It's easy to see why; this 20-year-old Russian boy is absolutely adorable, sometimes devilishly so. In fact, Nikolai is a fine art student and is very interested in exploring the angel/demon dichotomy in his work. He was so excited about the photos, he joined me in editing some with his own stylistic...

Andrew

This month's model is Andrew! This past summer, I met 21-year-old city boy Andrew in Greenwich Point Park to explore together. Andrew Haan is a unique beauty. Half-chinese, slender but extremely chiseled, and always joking, grinning wildly and sticking out his tongue at the camera. I lay him against the rocks and sand, the surf lapping against his chest. My favorite moment in the shoot came whe...

Camping with Tom

Tom is an old friend of mine from middle school who I recently reconnected with when I was surprised to discover he was gay. Tom is a man's man. An overly masculine type who doesn't easily reveal his emotions and lets them stew quietly beneath the surface. He's a pilot, an eagle scout, a boater, an all-around outdoorsman and an expert at tying knots (I know!). I didn't expect him to agree to be...

Charlie

One of my first shoots was exploring the streets of Brooklyn with city boy Charlie. He was one of the most adventurous guys I've shot with- willing to strip down to his red briefs in public. I think I saw a few guys across the street sneak a peek. I wrapped him in chains, lay him against the concrete, and dressed him in a jock with a vivid wall of graffiti behind him. This month I released his ...
