Swordfish (Gladiia, Arknights)

With this, the Abyssal Hunters squad is complete (not counting Andreana, because I never rolled her)! Gladiia is a badass character, she was fun to draw. I aimed for a limited palette and some cool silhouettes with this, and overall I'm pretty happy with it. I also did two versions -- one with a rain effect and one without, since I liked both equally.

I attempted to paint this whole thing, got halfway through, hated it, scrapped it all and re-did it as cel shading. It still didn't quite get to where I wanted it, but her expression and her lighting specifically turned out well.

I've gotten back into Arknights recently -- really really into it, lol. It's the only gacha I play, but it's my go-to timekiller when I'm trying to unwind or I'm stuck waiting somewhere. Tried a mix of cel shading and soft shading with this! And I forgot to mention this on the last one, but in keeping with the rule that Iru always wears her choker, the collar of her bunny suit is actually her usual choker with a piece of white fabric tucked in, lol.

Gave her another piercing, too, but she doesn't always wear them.

I posted this directly to Twitter from my phone, so I almost forgot to get it posted here, too -- just a quick little doodle of a couple characters from memory. I don't do enough low-effort scribbles just for fun anymore and I liked how these turned out (even if my memory wasn't perfect).

Carrot and Stick (Iru May, Original)

I had a few much more ambitious ideas for Bunny Iru (including a prismatic/holographic bunny suit or a vintage French advertising look) but nothing panned out -- so, I kept it simple. Iru is always cute either way, so I think it's fine.

I also gave her a tongue piercing because...I like that. 😌

Followed another tutorial on making low-poly characters, and right at the end I decided to change it into Iru instead of the generic girl I was supposed to be making. Also learned a tiny bit about UV mapping so I could throw a Rolling Stones logo on her hoodie.

Something this simple took me all day again, but I still feel like I'm learning a lot. Can't expect to jump straight from knowing...

Wanted to emphasize her badass vibe from the TCG (which is my favorite iteration of her design) and I really like how this turned out. Did something slightly different with the line-art, too, which is hard to explain -- basically, I used fewer lines than I normally would, and tried to vary the thickness of lines more than usual, too.
