Heya everyone!
Just wanted to let you all know I'm a bit late with a new SoloRPG post because I'm down with the flu for quite a few days now. As soon as I feel better I'll catch things up! Hope that works for everybody. Thanks for your patience and cheerio

This week I really wanted to play some adventures featuring investigating some mystery or another. However, only using an oracle to generate clues and define the mystery can often lead to jumbled results, and not really give you the exciting feeling that 'you are on to something'.
This got me thinking on a story mechanic able to take a solo player's deductive questioning of his or her own...

Greetings dear patrons,
Just a short update to let you know I made a small update of the current tiers that shouldn't affect your current tier rewards, but will hopefully make the first tier a little clearer. (there are no $1 patrons)
- Solitary Footman tier: now grants acess to all Adventure seeds, instead of one selected resource each month. (Makes it easier to ex...

I had been toying with the idea of a simple story driver to kick off a mini-adventure series featuring my human ranger character. After some brainstorming, I decided to roll up some oracle results (descriptives and actions) and compile them into a new Oracle map to fuel your imagination during solo play, and give you a re-usable mini setting to kick off your own imagination.
The ori...

"You smile as you look down at your belt. Things have been looking up recently. A pouch heavy with coins, and a beautiful new sword riding on your hip. Those dice certainly favored you last night in the Coalcracker roadside inn.
The rowdy adventurers you won the sword from claim they found it in a dungeon underneath an old tower they were hired to e...

"Every village has its dark place nearby that frightened children whisper stories about. A place that holds something unseen. Hard to define, yet eerily present.
Kobold Hollow is located just a brisk walk away from the village, in a muggy peat bog harvested for fuel used during harsh winters.
It has alwa...

As work progresses on my NPC conversation result engine, I needed to blow off some creative steam and try a direction I hadn't explored before in solo play.
The result is several evenings of fun using this map I put together of the Starfall Reach, a region recently devestated by a mysterious fallen star that has spread an evil influence across the region.
My character ev...

When I'm running my solo games, I like to be suprised by what happens storywise. When I use a GM emulator and oracle system, I find this happens quite naturally.
However, most of my games are focused on story and characters, rather than pure combat. Although, i certainly love a good heroic battle from time to time. :)
Recently, I've been experimenting with building...

"Travel through the King’s Forest has proven to be rather uneventful. Old oaks form a canopy of otherworldy beauty that shelters you from the midday sun.
Your mind drifts, accompanied by the peaceful sounds around you. The stories of Fey folk living within this forest do not seem so far-fetched."
I made and played this adventure seed all week inspired by re...

This matrix for generating interesting roadside encounters came into existence as I was looking for a system to generate believable encounter results, that were also somehow linked to my custom story experience.
And into being sprang a fun experiment with pre-categorizing table generation according to story theme!
Whenever you generate a roadside encounter, simply identi...

Sometimes I like to flip through my old RPG material in search for inspiration. Its great looking through those old modules and boxed sets. One of my favorite sets is the First Quest 2nd edition AD&D boxed set. It had everything, great art, a CD that really gave a realistic view of playing the game, little spellbooks for your characters and a small village handout that I used forever and ev...

I like making one page custom mechanics as tools to drive the story of my solo sessions forward. This lets me combine mechanics, and pick and choose them from a larger collection as my character's story unfolds.
The Chase table I orginally made for a rough ride across the Dalelands in the Forgotten Realms, is a nice example of this. I left it open to interpretation by using keywords...

"You were hired by a trusted middle-man to steal a small stone statue from a powerful wizard and deliver it to a mysterious client waiting in a nearby vilage.
Breaking into the wizard’s tower went like planned, and grabbing the statue was easy enough. However, now you fear the wizard has sent someone or something after you..."

"The giant ant nests of the Desert Borderlands were nothing but a minor nuisance to the nomadic tribes and lone travelers of the sands. This all changed with the arrival of Zragim the necromancer and his insidious fungus.
Zragim had cultivated the most rare and deadly fungal spores in a disgusting effort to strengthen the physique of normal undead with fungal growth...
