It's close to a new year, and after the first year modeling I've learned new things - as an artist, as a woman, and as a nude model. I've learned that, while I love to create art, I find there are nuances to telling what sort of a creative endeavor someone has in mind. That not all so-called creative endeavors are, in fact, creative. That there are a fair amount of misconceptions about the art I'm...

12.16.2016...Journal

I left the sharp cold of Philadelphia last night and arrived home in Baltimore after a quiet bus ride. The entire bus was almost empty, and I laid sideways in a seat to see my own eyes staring back at me with moving glimpses of traffic behind them. When I arrived in Baltimore, I sat on my backpack in the parking lot opposite a Red Lobster to wait for a cab along with a scattered line of other peop...

I arrived late last night in Baltimore. Here is a quick snapshot from today...I'll be adding a journal entry tonight and a new photoset of a model I was lucky enough to shoot with recently.

Philadelphia...Journal entry

Philadelphia has, as is usually the case for me, been full of ups and downs. Certain cities are easy to maintain an even keel in - NYC, Columbus, Kalamazoo, Houston, Chicago, and Minneapolis to name a few. Cities vary by model with respect to the work in each. I have a few out of the way places that have been lovely. In Philadelphia, I tend to go from absolutely wonderful shoots to really odd exp...

Philadelphia 12.2016

Every time I travel to Philadelphia, I'm tired and a bit miserable. I have no idea why...yesterday I hopped off the bus, piled with bags, and ran into Penn Station to get a coffee before heading to my first shoot. I like to travel with a box of cereal and as I dumped little handfuls into my mouth, I readjusted my cumbersome outfit composed of sweatpants, wool sweater, corduroy jumper, cotton knit ...

An image from a $10 set a little while back. I thought I'd put something at this level today for you :) I'll be uploading a few new sets of other models today at the $10 tier level, and planning for my self portraits in Philly. I hope you are all having a lovely week so far!

Diana Jean in Austin

Here is the small set I took of Diana Jean when I saw her in Austin yesterday. When I arrived at the little room she was staying in, I loved the window light, the textures on the bed fabric, and though I often dislike makeup, I loved the remnants she had left from an earlier shoot. She's such a calm model to work with and has lovely, natural poses. I hope you like this set. Link: 2016-12-09 02:21:39 +0000 UTC View Post

I'll be uploading multiple sets of photos today - most at the $10 level but one mini set at the $5 level as well - the mini set will be of the lovely Diana Jean (see above photo). I had a bit of overlap with her while I was in Austin and got to meet and shoot with her for the second time. I really love photographing her, and she's a wonderful person. I arrived home from Austin late last night and...

Austin...12.3/4.2016

I arrived in Austin Friday afternoon, planted myself on a bus seat, was transported downtown, ran to a different bus stop, and arrived at my first shoot about an hour later. After a shoot today with Reverend Bobby Anger, I had a long talk with him and his partner about traveling, art, photographs, the evolution of his interesting pseudonym, and moving pictures - we shot material for short films as...

Morning coffee

Today I worked for a bit with Polasquare  before traipsing about through some puddles to find amaretto to put in my coffee. An older woman presented a bright, red tin, the large bottle nestled inside. I said I can't have liquor in my coffee or much at all because of my low alcohol tolerance and she snickered a...

Journal entry number something

Today was one of those days that's dark from start to finish, even the morning light has you believing it must be dusk in December. I canceled a doctors appointment, and buried myself in a mound of pillows, still dressed in button down corduroy. My fancy layering outfit for braving the rain and wind outside...I piled my hair in a bun, fully ready to set out to the appointment, and then crawled und...

I traveled home yesterday...nine hours of driving later I was back in Baltimore curled up around my fur babes. I'll be uploading a new self portrait set I did today by late this evening, and a journal entry is a definite possibility. I'm planted happily back at home until I leave for Austin in December. Until then, I'll be making art, eating home cooked food, and snuggling with the fur fluffs.

Diana's

I settled in a bit in Columbus for the past few days before traveling south to visit family. I've been working consistently with Diana for over a year now. We had our first shoot (and one of my very first nude shoots) last October, and since then we must have shot over 50 times. Thousands of photos have been created. I began photographing Diana last winter as well - one of my first models. I thi...

Today I got to photograph my lovely friend Diana Schenkel. I got into Columbus Sunday and we've been working together for two days taking photos, and today I did three sets of Diana that I'll be uploading over the next week. Tomorrow I'll be visiting family in Dayton and will be posting a self portrait set, and the set of Diana in her antique bathtub (photo above is from this set). I'll also be...

Pittsburgh

Yesterday was an interesting day, though it felt so long...I got up at 4:30am and drove from Baltimore to Cleveland. I worked for 4 hours in Cleveland before driving to Pittsburgh and doing another shoot. At 9pm, I was finally in a bed and able to simply lay there - though I typically never fall asleep before midnight. It's simply not my bodily makeup I've decided. Something in me is simply determ...

My mother says I should shave because I probably smell dirty and I ask her if she can smell me. She says I just probably do and I ask again. I ask her if men smell too and if her boyfriends all shave and she says that's different, but it's actually the exact same thing.

When I was eleven I started growing body hair and my mother would have me hold my arms up in the shower so she could shave for ...

Last Day

It's my final day in Houston before leaving tonight to return home. I'm looking forward to having the best cuddle party with my fur babies tonight and tomorrow (and I'll be doing self portraits and editing photos from my trip). I'm having coffee with Keira Grant, and meeting her finally will be wonderful. And I've met my first goal! I'm super excited about this! So I'll be developing and sharin...

Houston

Last night I sat amongst a tangle of colored string lights as various people shuffled in and out of the drafty warehouse space above a dingy but well frequented bar. I could smell the turpentine from cloths flung over work lamps rising into the drafty space as someone wondered, "Is that acetone?" Another, "I think it's a chemical." "Turpentine?" And one man, a bandanna flapping wildly on his head,...

November 2016

I was a bit ashamed when I was sitting at small table, refreshing my phone constantly, looking at the election results. A red haired British woman stared across the table, wondering out loud if Americans would actually elect such a person. And as she sat rolling joints, drinking tea, forgetting that she'd left the gas for the stove on, she said, "they probably will, it's like Brexit, you know?" ...

I'm going to remain calm today...I edited photos of this lovely woman today to achieve some level of relaxation. This is the lovely Jenna Citrus. I'll be writing some updates on my travel later, some anecdotes, things of that nature. But until tonight, I'm going to exist in a little daydream since I'll be working in Houston.

View Post

Honestly...I really have no idea what to say and feel a photo would be a bit inappropriate right now so I'm waiting to post any travel updates until later. Perhaps I'll write something tomorrow, but now I'm going to go to sleep. I completely drained my phone battery hitting the refresh button so many times tonight, and I'm really just completely appalled right now.

Day 3 | New Orleans

Today I've accomplished a very touristy thing while traveling - I ate beignets at Café du Monde. I don't think I've ever eaten a food where, upon biting in, a small sugar cloud quickly envelopes you. I'm guessing my hair has a light coating of powdered sugar still clinging to it. I normally don't do many tourist activities while traveling, usually I have too many bookings. It makes me laugh whe...

Currently sitting at the airport after hearing my flight has been delayed. It's okay, there are worse things. In the next week, I'll be doing at least two new self portrait sets, I'm meeting Keira Grant, Mona - moniqueposes, Laureen Matt from France, Mayafaun (if I can figure out my crazy schedule), and perhaps Brittany Markert too. Shooting may or may not take place, but I'm excited nonetheless...

Jenna

About six months ago, I received a message from Jenna asking if I'd come stay with her in Evansville, Indiana. I thought about it a bit - it's quite a drive, even if I was living in Ohio at the time. In the end, I decided to make the drive for a weekend to see her and stay with her and her family.

The drive itself reminded me a lot of my own environment growing up, which, as a Midwest kid, you c...
