I took some time to think and draw. ><
It's actually fun to draw, especially the third question. ^^
Okay finally.. Young Roobar is introduced.
It means my story is right now 2/3 ^.=.^ b
I know it can be quite confusing, but let me try to explain with more example !!!
First of all, Subsurface Scattering can be easily seen in a strong backlight scene and also, it is quite obvious under THIN Skin or any THIN subject. So this is why you can see some SS (subsurface scattering) effect right over here in the second picture. ( I don't mean this rabbit is thin... i mean his ear i...

Thanks to the legend of moon rabbit, i choose this bunny again, yeah this bunny, i did plan to make him an oc of mine but i haven't figured his name yet. XP
In case you don't know where this bunny came from.

Okay so thanks to Hake-Feretto, who asked me a very fine question.
Why i didn't choose the certain color for a character at first but choose monochromatic colors for all characters instead.
Because that's the easiest way to define where the light comes from. But also, it's a reminder to remind myself what lighting technique i want to use for a scene. Lighting is a very interesting work...

Subsurface Scattering happens under a beam of strong light, in the shade side of a character. Usually it implies the flesh color under the skin or it implies the sub color under a material.
If you add the subsurface scattering effect for a character, it will give more fleshy sense to them.
And note it, subsurface scattering will be very strong when the skin or material i...

If you want to focus on a subject or a character. Make the background blurry as much as possible will help. But even still give your audience a hint what are they. For example, this background i imply you the grassy ground, flowers and few butterflies.

It's still not very fine to be honest, but i'm trying to add more painterly sense of it...
Very soon i will upload some wip works.
2020-09-28 10:04:54 +0000 UTC View PostHopefully you're all doing fine and staying safe. Wishing you the best.
So here comes an idea that, i've been using my intuos 5 for more or less five years. I still remember the first work i did with that fine tablet was the very first scene in Wild Cafe.

Happy old times. ;n;
However,...

Okay let's take a look at the 7th and the 8th step, see where Benjay is prepared to get tickled on one foot. Almost two same scene but two different lighting.
Why ?
The most important thing of lighting is to emphasize what you want your audience to focus.
The upper panel, i want you to focus on Benjay's expression. So i make the foot part with low brightness and low saturation,...

So you get the idea, security patrol is equal to the police. And this is Flamia's. And... other region got different uniform...

Nothing too important in this page but i show more steps for the wooden floor for how i made it.
I'm used to making the gap first and then brighten where the light comes from the window and then do the highlights. Hope it's understandable.
Okay, let me explain the final answer.
My idea is to adapt some famous bands in real life into a fictional bands in my universe.
You get the idea only you know these bands. Bee Gees, ABBA and Air Supply.
For ABBI, You see they are rabbits, so simply take out R and T will become ABBI.
I'm serious about the tickle monsters, i'm serious. Trust me. :P

As a opening of Darkilin, i hope it's a good one.
Kinda looks dramatic under the sun, but i just like how it looks like now. :目
Doing comparison between a day scene and a night one can be fun, and certainly it can improve of using light in a scene.

I can't tell you more until the comic is released, but right now Olipa probably can tell you more about it. ¬u¬
But seriously, if you're interested in the Featherquill, like and comment to let me know, i probably can make it like a mini series here for exclusive art.

Making depth of field effect for background is actually fun !
Also by the fact that, if you want to focus on characters, the background won't be too important at all if you've shown it already in previous pages. This will save you some time.
