It had taken Lexie several days and a lot of scouring to create this teleportation-like effect. It was difficult enough to find cards to combine, but then they also had to be a part of the same deck. That was a tall order to ask.

Naem disappeared from the window and Lexie felt the pressure in the atmosphere ease. It was strange that she barely even noticed it when she talked to him, only now that he was gone. She thought about it briefly and then pushed her chair back to rise. She went downstairs and heard the door shut behind Aiden. A second later, it opened up again.

Abernathy and Co. didn’t seem to know how to react when Lexie walked forward.
