Blood & Chlorophyll Ch. 17

The following day, for the very first time since Alicia and Katrina had met each other, they woke up at roughly the same time. Alicia technically woke up first, confused at the position of the sun. It was halfway above the horizon, yet the colors were all wrong; they were the dull oranges and purples of dusk, not the invigorating pastel hues of dawn. Had she really just slept through an entire ...

Suddenly A Succubus Ch. 35 - Reflection

Whew, this was a big one.

Book Three has, if you'll pardon my pun, existed in a bit of a strange limbo. I threw Amara and Vee into a very strange situation almost immediately, but paradoxically, the entire book has basically been them just kinda hanging out.

Now, I threw in the threat of the reapers, as well as the threat of entropy, to make the place feel oppressive, but it's hard ...

Although Purgatory was still as lifeless as ever when Amara woke up, it was hard to shake her renewed sense of vigor. Her inner fire was roaring, and she’d slept fantastically, all because she’d finally fed yesterday. Twice, in fact. After so long without sex, suffering in silence as her body slowly withered away, she finally felt like herself again.

Thinking back, however, it was har...

Suddenly A Succubus Publication Details

Hello my lovelies!

As the publication date for Suddenly A Succubus draws near, I wanted to set some time aside to run you through exactly what to expect from this book. I've changed quite a few things, but in the end, it's still the same story you know and love. So, without further ado:

The original version of the book that was published for free online had 78,410 words, split among...

Blood & Chlorophyll Ch. 16 - Reflection

Oh boy, was this an exciting chapter.

It's not often I get to sit for prolonged periods of time in hyper-sexualized environments like this, and it made writing last chapter and this one a lot of fun. I've been trying my best to show how easily flustered Alicia gets when confronted with this stuff, and that's why switching the POV to Katrina made so much sense.

Kat has a lot to think...

With the benefit of hindsight, Tabitha taking them to a strip club was hardly surprising. The confusing aspect of this trip was that she’d promised an end to Katrina’s mana problem, and there was still no sign of how they would accomplish that by watching scantily clad burlesque performers.

The main floor of The Scarlet Showcase had been especially tough for Katrina. She’d been quit...

Sometime I write chapters and think "Wow, that was fun!" and sometimes I think "Oh god this is so important, did I do my characters justice? If this isn't perfect it changes everything." Needless to say, this chapter falls into the latter category.

Some more recent chapters have included things that I've been thinking about for well over a year. All the conversations Amara and Ve...

Random Publication Question

Happy Tuesday everyone!

As I continue with my publication journey, I'm constantly running into tiny details that catch me off guard. I'm very happy with how everything is coming together, but I have one topic that's giving me a hard time—text message formatting in books.

How do you prefer they be displayed?

The formatting software I use does have a function that displays tex...

Vee woke with a start several hours later. Without daylight, it was impossible to know how long she’d been out, but her exhausted body told her it hadn’t been a healthy eight hours. No, something had woken her up.

There was an unusual sound coming from inside her bedroom.

Her first fear was that a reaper had broken through the wards. The sound she heard was soft and wet, just li...

January 2025 Update

Is it really 2025 already? Dang.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and for those of you with holidays that are still ongoing, I hope they finish strong! My week off of writing was quite relaxing, it was nice to have one less thing to worry about as the holiday stress piled up.

That being said, I'm very excited to get back to it! The chapter I'm writing this week (SaS 3...

Blood & Chlorophyll Ch. 15 - Reflection

This was a really fun chapter because of just how different it was. This book has kept an incredibly tight scope, focusing entirely on Alicia and Katrina's small worlds. Yes, Katrina saw a bit of the city at times, and they visited the Dungeon Camp once, but for some reason those feel like quick asides. Still important, mind you, but just things to get out of the way rather than integral parts ...

Holiday Update

Happy Holidays, one and all! The year is slowly drawing to a close, and people around the world are taking time to celebrate myriad different holidays with friends and family. Personally, I celebrate Christmas, and it's got me pretty busy this year.

In fact, it's got me a little too busy.

The details don't matter, but long story short, I have literally no time to mysel...

Alicia turned around again, trying to decide if her outfit would fit the occasion. A knee-length cocktail dress hugged her curves, with sleeves that ended just before her elbows, and she had no idea if it would be appropriate or not.

Is it too short? Too long? How much skin should I be covering? Ugh, this would be so much easier if Tab would tell us where we’re going!

When I first envisioned the plot of this book, I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty damn proud of myself. Stranding Amara and Vee in Purgatory gave me the perfect scenario to cook up all sorts of interesting ideas, the most obvious being getting them to finally talk.

However, there's a huge element of suspense that's been creeping in the edges of the narrative, and our girls are starting to ru...

Amara woke up horribly disoriented. For one thing, she’d slept terribly; her lack of sex was starting to extract a heavier toll than just her appetite. She was honestly surprised she’d gotten any sleep at all, the last thing she remembered was tossing and turning, trying to keep her wings and tail from accidentally prodding Vee.

Now, as consciousness slowly returned, she felt incredib...

One of the fun things about my choice of protagonists is the discrepancy of their sleep schedules. With this chapter, and with several others, I've been able to start off mere seconds after the end of the previous chapter, along with a POV shift from Alicia to Katrina. This certainly makes it easy to choose who to focus on, even if it makes tracking time a little difficult.

The other bene...

The other day, Alicia had made an offhand comment about getting planners to figure out their daily routines, and the thought had stuck with Katrina.

I think I've said this before (though, to be honest, it's hard to keep track of what I say in these pieces sometimes), but I'm really excited that I'm getting more time to dig into Nick with this book. He's always been in the background, and while he's still not as present, pairing him with Tessa has been a great way to learn more about the both of them.

I like seeing how antsy Nick gets ...

December 2024 Update

'Tis the holiday season! Here in the states, we just celebrated Thanksgiving, which means we're now legally ordained to celebrate Christmas with obnoxious levels of enthusiasm. That being said, there are a bunch of different holidays being celebrated this time of year, and they're all just as special.

So how did November go? If you recall, I was attempting to write 50,000 words of a brand...

Learning that Amara and Vee were stuck in Purgatory was both good news and bad news. Knowing where they were was helpful information, and it enabled Tessa to start throwing together a rescue plan. Unfortunately, of all the places to be stranded, Purgatory was one of the worst.

Tessa had spent quite a bit of time explaining this to Nick yesterday. Purgatory wasn’t just a place for ghosts...

I've mentioned this before, but for many of these chapters in the middle of the story, I'm pretty paranoid about drifting too far from the cute romance that's dominated the book. This worry was more pronounced in the last chapter, which was almost entirely about sparring, leveling up, and things like that.

Thankfully, I feel this chapter strikes a much better balance, and cements that the...

Alicia had never slept better in her life, neither as a Human nor as a Dryad. After making a nest of blankets, and dragging Katrina inside of it, she’d done her best to avoid falling asleep instantly, but had failed miserably. As excited as she was to share her first real night with Kat, she was equally as exhausted from all the training she’d done with Tabitha.
