Notice how first I rendered the base colors and only later added the atmosphere lights... I used to do the opposite! I used to plan everything, including shadows colors and environmental lights, first and render only when it was all set... I'm not sure there's a "correct" or ...

The coloration process of this illustration has been pretty wild, there's not much I can explain because I just went with the flow. I didn't create the usual layers for shadows/highlights/etc but colored and rendered everything on the same layer and hoped it wouldn't look shit at the end ๐ I'm extremely happy it didn't...
