While the walls of Duhr are stone and ceramic, the buildings aren't. It's an ancient, layered wooden city. The upper stories have a new, freshly-milled look and feel. The lower stories are deep, dark, and mossy. Rather than being cramped, Duhr actually opens up in its lower areas.
