Slight delay on next art-pack post.

Hey folks,

The next art pack will be out on Monday (Sept 21) instead of Sunday as I'll be away for the weekend and won't have time to get the previews done just yet.  The pack after that will resume at the normal Sunday time though!

Cheers, and have an awesome weekend!

Tides of Nautu'loa cover

Hey again, folks.

The next painting is finally done.  This time around it's for the cover of the 'Tides of Nautu'loa' comic, featuring Kahela (the one about to pokk someone with a coconut) and Nalahi (Surprised that Kahela is about to pokk someone with a coconut).

This image actually wasn't supposed to turn into a full painting.  I was planning on making it in the same co...

Additional note!

I nearly forgot!  I'll be picking a person on Sunday to do a sketch for.  I won't be making names/handles public anymore, but will notify the winner via e-mail or PM (or both, just to be sure).

The first batch of links have gone out today as well, let me know if there are any problems!

Cheers, and have a great weekend.

Art Preview: September 4

Hey all!

Just a heads up that the processing for Patreon is being a bit slow this week.  I might move the weekly updates to Saturday or Sunday to give a little more time for payments to go through.  I'll have this image out to everyone once everything processes, which is hopefully on the weekend!

This time around I've done a full painting of the 'Neighbors' picture. &n...

Some Changes for September

Hey all!

It's hurtling towards the fall already, hooray! (or boo, if you don't like the fall).  In the past month I've had some odd happenings with a bunch of false accounts being made to fish for content here on Patreon.  While that usually doesn't bother me, the amount of false accounts were becoming a bit annoying to deal with.  So I've decided to try something a bit different ...

Weekly Update - number 15

Hello all!

This time around I have the inks of the rough sketch from last week ready.  I was hoping to have the full image done in greyscale by this point but unfortunately I had a family medical emergency hit yesterday that put a wrench in production.

This also means I have to change around my schedule while I take care of things for my father.  He's unable to get around for the...

Neighbors rough sketch

I'm trying to get into the habit of posting more sketchy and rough works here.  This is the next work in progress, continuing with the unofficial theme of Cinders leading up to autumn.  This time around picking some fruit from a tree and meeting one of her new neighbors.

Weekly Update - number 14

Hey all!

Another week gone by, and another comic update.  Page three this time around!  I should have the sketches for the next couple of pages up soon as well.  I'm working on the painting for this month, which will be another fall-ish themed image.

It's a rather quick update this week.  I'm off for a couple days to do some concepts for another project I'm working on! ...

Future Tech from Eras Gone By

This month's sketch winner, Lunden, kindly allowed me to post the sketch I had done for him.  And this one right up my alley: Otter!

I've been drawing a lot of otter sketches (which will be posted once cleaned up a little) to keep in practice for the comic, so adding more otter to the mix was a happy co-incidence.

I was given the mandate of having him exploring a post-apocalyptic beac...

Weekly Update - number 13

This is my second attempt at typing this up, since I hit the back-button before I posted.  It's a derpy Friday for me.

Comic

It surprised me how much work really goes into a comic when you are the only person working on it.  While bigger studios and some independent comic producers might have several people working on a title (pencillers, inkers, colourists, letterers, wri...

Ambush Averted

Last month's sketch of Valore's character as a cleric of a trickster-god, confounding a goblin ambusher.  Luckily goblin minds aren't terribly hard to crack open with spellcraft.

Weekly Update - Number 12

Heya folks!

Another week is upon us.  Thank you all again for sticking around too!  This week I'll be showing off some sketchwork, two panels of the comic (I'm on page 8, but have roughs I can show), I've hit a good groove with getting all of my ideas down in quick sketch-form instead of just taking forever to overwork things until 'perfect'.

A Short Update

Hey all,

I thought I'd give a heads up that I'll be unable to do much in the way of artwork for the next couple days.  I've gone ahead and taken the plunge to re-install my OS on my main work machine and it's hit a couple snags along the way (the biggest being Manga Studio seems to not qualify my serial number as a working one, despite my having had it for years now).

Hopefully things...

As if Tiny Ghosts, Returning Home

"The sky sensed it's heart returning, and sent it's children to their mother as if tiny ghosts, returning home, landing for but a second in her warm embrace before fading to tears."

Cinders gleeful as snows begin to fall at her outdoor onsen.  This started as a colour study in how to do more convincing lighting in snow and overcast conditions.  It's surprising how muted colours tha...

Comic Page 1

For this week, I've finally finished the first page of the comic (name still in flux).  It had originally taken longer than I would have liked, though given that this is such a different process than what I'm used to it took a bit of time to learn.  Everything from standard sizing for comic pages, to the correct way to letter things, to the colour process, and even ...

Weekly Update - number 10

The weather has started to slightly improve and I could finally just sit and sketch again.  I like having the window open and listening to birds, distant baseball games being played, and the occasional insane person screaming in the middle of the street.  This week had all three.  Just life as usual around this neighborhood!

As a side project outside of doing a steady stream of rp...

Winter, Warmth, and a Pony (NSFW)

"Why hello!  Yes, I am poni!"

A quick and (very) rough sketch of a certain Cinder-neigh at an onsen in some wintery vale.  With the weather having been so withering hot and dry in the last couple of weeks, I wanted to draw something that involved snow.  It was this, or sticking my head in the freezer until the motor on the fridge gave out.

I might finish this at some ...

Tales of a Bright North - High resolution

And luckily I didn't nearly forget this time to include the higher resolution image for folks!

View Post

Weekly Update - number 9

Going with the magic theme is the final painted image of Cinderfrost listening to a tale brought to her from the north.  The image itself wasn't actually supposed to be painted at first, as the sketch was just my fumbling around trying to figure out how to draw a dragon, and what size Cinders might be in comparison to a human being.  It generally just got out of hand after that.

Weekly Update - number 8

Another week already.  Let's dig in.

Comic stuff

I managed to re-ink the comic panels I had done, and discovered what it was that was bugging me about my previous attempts.  Essentially I was inking and colouring in a style that just didn't fit in with doing a comic about 'adventures in a tropical land'.  In fact it was all coming out a bit to Frank Miller ...

Short Update

I was supposed to update last Friday, and had plans to show off the first two pages of the comic I'm working on in colour.  Sadly due to a couple circumstances I wasn't able to have that update ready on time.

I was immensely displeased with the work on the first couple of pages.  Namely the colour.  While I can usually paint to a standard degree and make it look reasonable I'm com...

Eastern Thoughts (NSFW)

This month's Patreon sketch commission of Lyssi Rancourt, at one of the many places in Japan that she stays :)

I had never tried the grey-tone things in Manga Studio before in any real sense, and figured a 'manga' style greyscale would work well for a pic of a character in Japan. Unfortunately the tone-dots don't scale down very well.

Either way. Bark.

Weekly Update - number 7 (late!)

Hey all,

This week's update is late (but still technically within the same week!).  It's been a bit of a front-loaded week that started with my laptop going completely mental on me, requiring a re-install of the OS and days of re-installing software.  It looks like everything is back in working order, but I'll keep my fingers crossed since the OS itself seems fairly wobbly a...

Slight Production Hiccup

Hey folks,

Looks like I'll be having some production slow-down over the next little while.  I've had a laptop that I was doing work on in the evenings become suddenly non-functional.  Luckily I still have my work desktop so this just means I won't be able to do any work during the evenings any more.

and yes, everything was backed up ;)

Weekly Update - Number 6

A sort of mash up picture-post and weekly update.

This is a rough preview of the first picture of Cinders in her draconic form, listening to a renown traveler tell stories.

I've never cared for dragons simply depicted as 'things to hit until they kill you, or you get all of their loot'.  They are often portrayed as apparently brilliant but complete idiots at the same time. &nbs...
