If there are cracks in your mold the molten bronze will find and fill them. This is called flash and has to be removed after your crack open the mold.

By the way,
Max is making a mold for Bronze casting. He's pouring a mixture of plaster and fine sand around a wax maquette. The mixture sets up super hard and is heat resistant. Once it sets up he bakes it upside down so the wax melts out. Then he pours molten bronze into the cavity.
